Job Description

Summary: Creates 3D parts and assemblies for use in instructional media development. Extracts model texture components from photographs and 3D scans. Maps and applies textures to 3D models as required. Creates technically accurate animations depicting maintenance, operation, or inspection procedures. Assists with development of storyboards and development of 2D graphics as required.

Job Type: Full-time Starting Salary: industry competitive salary dependent on experience with full benefits 8am-5pm Monday – Friday

Duties and Responsibilities:

  • Create detailed complex mechanical models and large assemblies using 3D Studio Max
  • Create realistic texture maps using Adobe Photoshop or other software program
  • Produce artwork within technical and design parameters for use in 3ds Max and UNITY
  • Adjust and adapt designs in response to feedback and project evaluation
  • Think critically and diagnose problems to ensure proper functionality of models within the target software or deployment vehicle
  • Deliver products on time and on budget
  • Work well in a team environment with others who have a passion for 3D modeling
  • Establish, maintain, and enhance relationships with internal creative resources and clients
  • Education/Experience:

  • Undergraduate degree in Computer Gaming, Graphics, or similar discipline/ equivalent experience
  • 2 + years of experience creating high detail industrial/mechanical models using Autodesk 3DS Max and Photoshop (or equivalent 3D and 2D programs)
  • Requirements:

  • Intermediate-level expertise and experience working in Autodesk 3ds Max 2014 or later
  • Intermediate-level expertise and experience working in Adobe Creative Cloud applications
  • Intermediate-level experience working in Microsoft Office applications
  • Intermediate-level experience working in UNITY or UNREAL Gaming engine (UNITY preferred)
  • Preferred Qualifications:

  • Programming and/or scripting experience
  • Experience in modeling mechanical equipment or components thereof
  • Experience in animation of maintenance or operational procedures
  • Experience in scene setup, rigging, and animation of complex scenes
  • Experience with making objects or characters appear lifelike by manipulating light, color, texture, shadow, and transparency, or manipulating static images to give the illusion of motion.
  • Ability to create measurement-accurate hard surface models from photographs or technical drawings
  • Superior eye for detail and an understanding of complex, hard surface modeling techniques
  • Ability to create two-dimensional and three-dimensional images depicting objects in motion or illustrating a process, using computer animation or modeling programs.
  • Exceptional understanding of form, shape, structure, and silhouette in regard to modeling
  • ADA Notations:
