About the Position: Located at Fort Hamilton in Southern New York City. Bay Ridge Brooklyn is at the base of the Verrazano Narrows Bridge, is a vibrant cultural area, and only 20 minutes to mid-town Manhattan. Since spring 1998, the Fort Hamilton Military Community has been home to the North Atlantic Division, U.S. Army Corps of Engineers; New York City Recruiting Battalion; and New York Military Entrance Processing Station. Commuter buses and trains are easily accessible from this location.

Responsibilities
  • Serves as the Administrative Support Assistant for the Directorate of Installation Management.
  • Coordinates and oversees all personnel action requests for the office.
  • Provides advice on administrative policy matters and develops plans and procedures leading to the effective administration of the office personnel and operations.
  • Serves as Training Coordinator for the office.

  • Appointment may be subject to a suitability or fitness determination, as determined by a completed background investigation.
  • This position requires the incumbent to obtain and maintain a Secret level security clearance.

  • Qualifications Who May Apply: US Citizens In order to qualify, you must meet the experience requirements described below. Experience refers to paid and unpaid experience, including volunteer work done through National Service programs (e.g., Peace Corps, AmeriCorps) and other organizations (e.g., professional; philanthropic; religious; spiritual; community; student; social). You will receive credit for all qualifying experience, including volunteer experience. Your resume must clearly describe your relevant experience; if qualifying based on education, your transcripts will be required as part of your application. Specialized Experience: One year of specialized experience which includes 1) experience using office automation equipment and software; 2) communicating orally and in writing to obtain and provide information; 3) planning and coordinating a variety of tasks in an office/organizational environment related to administrative and procedural matters. This definition of specialized experience is typical of work performed at the lower grade/level position in the federal service (GS-06). Proficiency Requirement: This position requires a qualified typist. A qualified typist can type 40 words per minute based on a 5 minute sample with three or fewer errors. You will be evaluated on the basis of your level of competency in the following areas:

    You will be evaluated for this job based on how well you meet the qualifications above.
