Analytics Manager (Category Market Analytics)

Job Description

The primary responsibility of this position is to manage the West Region Sales Analyst team and to provide for the implementation of sales and category analysis to maximize the growth and profitability to both our manufacturing clients as well as their respective grocery categories. They will manage sales analysis requests for the West Region and help in the evaluation of refining the report generation process. They will also be responsible for growing the West Region team by means of discovering needs of the business and hiring and training analysts to support those needs. Additionally, they will oversee and develop Impact Group’s data insights initiative with Albertsons Shopper 360 data.

ESSENTIAL FUNCTIONS:

  • Manage and supervise the West Region Sales Analyst team
  • Collaborate to provide category insights and recommendations to internal and external customers
  • Negotiate and manage data services contracts as they pertain to Albertsons Shopper 360
  • Lead and present projects around product, placement, promotion and pricing
  • Provide continuous training to sales analyst and client manager staff in all aspects of retail analytics, insights, metrics & best practices
  • Establish and maintain a partnership with our client managers and manufacture clients to develop strategic objectives and goals for multiple categories
  • Establish and maintain a partnership with retailer management and sales personnel to develop strategic objectives and goals while engaging category managers
  • Analyze and connect data sources such as syndicated, shopper card, panel and remaining market data.
  • Identify scope, design and coordinate the execution of projects in support of business initiatives.
  • Manage selected analysis and consulting activities to partner with vendors and sales personnel as needed on specific projects
  • Provide thought leadership, implementing natural curiosity and new approaches to analyzing data and consumer behavior
  • Transform large, complex data sets into pragmatic, actionable insights
  • Develop written reports and presentations of results, including analysis, conclusion and recommend actions
  • Manage timelines, projects and participants in various projects

  • ESSENTIAL SKILLS:

  • Must be able to successfully manage, motivate, coach and direct a team of analysts
  • Supervisory experience is a plus
  • Ability and flexibility to work closely with a team
  • Working knowledge of Symphony Retail, Nielsen, Mintel, and Numerator
  • Possess an ownership mentality
  • Detail Oriented and results focused
  • Excellent written, verbal and analytical skills
  • Strong multi-tasking abilities
  • Excellent critical thinking skills
  • Great time management skills with a sensitivity to deadlines
  • Extensive understanding of category management practices and concepts as it relates to the CPG industry
  • Demonstrated success in category management and syndicated data (scanner & panel) analysis using Nielsen, or IRI, Symphony Retail, 84.51 and space management tools such as Apollo
  • Must have prior work experience in data analysis and systems and demonstrate a fundamental knowledge of the technology involved to operate and maintain these systems.
  • Must have a high degree of proficiency in Windows and related software applications including spreadsheets, word processing, graphics, email, database management, Nielsen Workstation and Nitro
  • Experience working within grocery industry
  • Strong computer skills; excellent Microsoft Excel and PowerPoint with competency in, Outlook and Word
  • Excellent written, verbal and people skills with the ability to create and deliver effective, persuasive presentations to meet company objectives
  • Must have valid driver’s license and insurance
