Job Description
Organizational Overview The SEIU 775 Benefits Group is a family of employee benefit plans negotiated and sponsored by SEIU 775, the labor union for long-term care workers in Washington State & Montana. With 10,000 people turning 65 every day in the U.S., there are not enough qualified, trained workers to care for the exponential rise in older adults needing care. Through groundbreaking initiatives, the SEIU 775 Benefits Group, together with its union and employer partners, are ensuring that Washington state home care workers have access to the skills and support they need to stay and grow in the field. Position Summary Reporting to the Learning Operations Manager, the Animator & Graphic Designer will work closely with the Learning Experience Team to develop illustrations, graphics, and 2D animated videos for instructional courseware. You will create illustrations, characters, backgrounds, and scene transitions, bringing creative ideas and concepts to life to enhance the learning experience. This position will partner with the Learning Experience team as well as the Technology, Communications, and other key groups in learning development and delivery. You Will:
  • Collaborate with the instructional design team to implement the micro-learning, competency-based animated video strategy for delivery of video on multiple platforms, including mobile, browser-based, and offline
  • Develop animation from storyboards to production including backgrounds and characters
  • Collaborate with the Video Producer to assist in live-action video production, including lighting, audio recording, file compression, filming, and other technical details
  • Create and implement video production standards including lighting, audio, file compression, and other technical details
  • Create and edit photographs and illustrations
  • Collaborate with colleagues as necessary to arrange locations and props for shoots
  • Collaborate closely with instructional designers to ensure videos are aligned with instructional design documents, including pre-production SME meetings, actor prep, and location scouting
  • Plan video shoots and animation production to optimize time and resources
  • Create and/or select still graphics for eLearning as needed
  • Manage post-production of animation edits, including review cycles, revisions, and refinements to create final product for curriculum delivery; ensure consistent brand voice is represented in all products
  • Maintain and operate video and audio equipment
  • Manage and maintain graphic and video digital assets, adhering to best practices in file naming and storage conventions
  • Collaborate with team members to efficiently localize video and graphic assets for delivery in multiple languages
  • Perform other duties as assigned
  • You Have:
  • 5+ years of professional motion graphics design and animation experience
  • Education in video production, fine arts, graphic design, or instructional design preferred
  • Enjoys fast paced environment with high autonomy and ambiguity
  • Demonstrated expertise in 2D graphic and illustration creation; experience in GUI development for online courseware is a plus
  • High emotional intelligence and the ability to partner with others to achieve shared goals
  • Robust critical thinking skills
  • Self-starter and the ability to initiate work to meet goals
  • Mastery of Adobe After Effects, Adobe Illustrator, and Adobe Premier Pro
  • Strong experience with Adobe Character Animator CC; experience with Final Cut Pro X is a plus
  • Demonstrated experience in graphic editing and file size optimization, experience in creating effective graphic layouts for instructional print materials is a plus
  • Experience in storyboarding and visual story telling
  • Excellent communication skills with the ability to present and convey ideas precisely and effectively;
  • Comfort with early stage, fast paced, high change work environment
  • Experience in the health care sector a plus
  • Strong connection to improving home care jobs to benefit workers, consumers, and society
