$25 - $30 an hour

Gauge Design Group is a Seattle-based design and fabrication firm founded on the ideas that beautiful things and spaces have a positive effect on people’s lives. Our work can be found across America, with services including award-winning monumental stair projects, luxury interiors, architectural metal fabrication, and custom furniture.

We are looking for an intelligent & passionate person to join our design team. As with many architectural jobs, there will be lots of design-drafting involved. At our company, there are frequent opportunities to have an impact on the way a design functions and looks. If you like designing for fabrication, having an impact on the built environment, and care about craftsmanship, this position could be a good fit.

Our ideal candidate will have a minimum of 3 years-experience producing complex architectural modeling in Rhino-3D and be able to turn these into production drawings. Candidate must demonstrate/ present proven capability of clearly communicating technical information in the form of shop drawings, sheet layout, and clean technical/ architectural drafting. Compensation depending on the level of experience.

Skills Required:

  • Drafting skills
  • General knowledge of Architectural CAD Standards
  • Following company drawing standards
  • Great sheet layouts are a must
  • Detailed drafting
  • Appropriate layering, grouping, blocking, & file organization
  • Composing Bill of Materials
  • Rhino 3D architectural/industrial modeling
  • Ability to be flexible & manage time resources with multiple projects
  • Must be able to collaborate, organize, & communicate in a team environment
  • Architectural Portfolio to show at the time of interview (iPad, laptop, thumb-drive, printouts, website, etc…)
  • Bonus Skills:

  • Modeling curved & pitched elements (i.e. curved handrails, wreathed components)
  • Manual drafting, sketching, & skilled physical modeling
  • Construction, carpentry, or fabrication experience
  • Some exposure to navigating IBC Codes & IRC Stair Code
  • Blue-Beam, and Adobe Suite software (e.g. Photoshop, InDesign, Illustrator)
  • Familiarity with 2D cut-files for CNC / laser-cut production
  • Grasshopper – always looking for ways to parametrize our workflow in Rhino
  • Working knowledge of welding symbols/callouts
