The Assistant Designer position plays a supportive roll within the design department. The Assistant Designer position works with a team and begins to learn the foundation of the design process and how we do what we do. This position also requires attention to detail and strong communication skills with Clients and internal interaction that helps reinforce two key objectives.
1. To ensure the best design in the building industry, while meeting Client’s needs, budget and time frame.
2. Provide the highest quality Client service possible.
Responsible to meet $300,000-$450,000 in installed sales volume per year.
Assist in Design Department goals
Ensure that correct forms and procedures are followed throughout design process
Help initiate and assemble color boards for presentations
Have active involvement in theming of project and pulling idea pictures
Research new vendors and products to keep our design unique
Assist in pulling furniture, drapery and spec ideas for presentations
Create initial proposals for presentations and know the process of having the proposals changed as needed
Ensure that resource room is clean after presentations have been completed
Assist in entering orders in Design Works, placing orders (when applicable) and making reselections
Adhere to budget constraints throughout design process
Create drapery specs and purchase fabrics
Retail shopping completed (within budget constraints) and have it boxed and labeled 10 days prior to truck loading
Assistance with installation of projects
Within 12-18 months, be responsible for completing 3 projects from conception through completion under the guidance of the Project Designer
Reports To: Senior Designer, Senior Project Designer and Project Designer
Start Date: Within 30 days
Work Hours: Typically 8:30 AM – 5:30 PM EST. Some work from home allowed based on workload after 90 days.
Compensation: Includes market-based salary and performance bonus. Position includes full-time
employee benefits package and PTO.
Qualifications and Skills Desired:
College degree in Interior Design a must. DO NOT APPLY WITHOUT A INTERIOR DESIGN DEGREE
No post graduate experience needed, but an internship helpful
Strong organizational skills, time-management and attention to detail
Initiative, focus, self-motivation and positive attitude in performing all job duties and responsibilities
Team player and ability to work with other departments
Strong written and verbal communication
Organized, punctual and eager to succeed
Microsoft Word, Excel and Power Point knowledge helpful
