ASSOCIATE EHR APPLICATION ANALYST -EHR INPATIENT & AMBULATORY

Job Description

The Associate EHR Application Analyst is a support contact and works with the other members of the EMR team in helping to coordinate the implementation efforts with the end users/operations stake holders. The Associate EHR Application Analyst will be responsible for helping to coordinate and communicate with the end users and representatives from all areas of the hospital related to their specific application. The Associate EHR Application Analyst should have a basic understanding of MD Anderson's objectives for implementing an EMR and the ability to recognize opportunities for process redesign that will help the organization maximize the benefits of the implementation.

**In order to be adequately prepared and trained to build, test and optimize the Epic system, MDA requires that Epic certification be obtained within 120 days of completion of the assigned, required training classes. Required certifications must be maintained as assigned.**

Implementation/ Optimization

Analysis of EPIC model content and negotiation of any user requested modifications
  • Working with other project team members to populate databases during the initial system build, with assistance from Epic staff
  • Learning choices in application specifications and how those affect overall build
  • Investigating the preferred choices of the users
  • Assisting in analyzing data conversion needs
  • Preparing details of specifications as needed
  • Supporting trainers during user training
  • Input to project plan throughout the course of the implementation to insure major milestones are met and appropriate project tracking is accurate
  • Responding to Epic's technical questions with assistance from other project team members
  • Learning and understanding both the clinical and business workflows to achieve strategic outcomes for the implementation
  • Support/ Content Management

  • Assist in modification of EPIC content as prescribed by project team
  • Working with users on the sharing of data, category lists, etc
  • Developing and documenting internal procedures with assistance from other project team members
  • Troubleshooting problems or questions from users
  • Prioritizing and implementing changes requested for the system with assistance from other project team members
  • Assiting in the coordination of software updates and changes with users
  • Assisting in the review and testing of each new release and communicating needed changes to Epic before users are permitted to access the new release
  • Assist in the collection of information regarding potential system enhancement needs
  • Standards

  • Setting standards for naming and numbering conventions and security classifications
  • Education Required:

    Bachelor's degree.

    Certification Required:

    None

    Experience Required:

    None. May substitute required education with years of related experience on a one to one basis or completed years of college on a one to one basis.
