IT Project Manager - Enterprise Information Delivery

Job Description
Whole Foods Market is growing the Enterprise Information Delivery (EID) organization. The IT Project Manager will have the opportunity to lead delivery of projects to build-out the “Information Neighborhood”, the modernization of our data ecosystem. In coordination with other Whole Foods Market’s Product Owners, Architects, Business Partners, and Technology development teams, this position will provide project management oversight throughout all phases of the software development lifecycle, while continuously working to build strong partnerships amongst internal business and IT teams. The ideal candidate will:
  • Establish, build and maintain project plans and milestones
  • Manage activities and timelines
  • Identify, manage and mitigate program risks
  • Enable and facilitate the project team’s activities
  • Identify and make recommendations related to project team staffing needs
  • Engage and communicate with both internal and external teams
  • These activities will be accomplished in order to meet overall EID and project objectives.


  • Initiates, plans, and implements small to medium projects utilizing WFM’s methodologies, practices and requirements in a single technical domain
  • Defines and follows communication plan with Team Members, partners, and stakeholders
  • Plans the project in detail and works with resource managers to acquire and schedule human and technical resources
  • Tracks dependencies on partners, vendors, and other 3rd parties
  • Accurately documents and communicates project status to leaders and stakeholders on a regular basis
  • Establishes project documentation library and ensures project management deliverables are completed
  • Controls project quality and success by actively managing issues and the decision process, assessing risks, initiating and tracking change requests, meeting schedule and deadlines for deliverables, and timely completion of project deliverables
  • Organizes, attends, participates in, and facilitates meetings and ceremonies with Team Members and peer stakeholders, and distributes minutes to all attendees where appropriate
  • Documents and follows up on important actions and decisions from meetings
  • Responds to critical situations with accurate analysis, problem breakdown, option assessment, and clear communication and/or escalation with the right stakeholders, if needed
  • Demonstrates resourcefulness, ceaseless energy and persistence to achieve goals despite obstacles and difficulties
  • Conveys a strong sense of urgency and drives issues to closure
  • Diplomatically but assertively leads negotiation of competing priorities and interruptions with stakeholders on behalf of the team, escalating where necessary
  • Qualifications:

  • BA/BS degree and 2-5 years’ relevant experience OR equivalent combination of education and relevant experience
  • Strong experience with waterfall and agile project task scheduling tools such as MS Project, Merlin, JIRA, and Rally
  • Strong experience planning and managing projects with waterfall and Agile/Lean project management methodologies
  • At least one industry-standard project management certification preferred
  • 2+ year’s experience managing medium to large projects with both a business and a technology focus
  • 2+ years building and leading project teams
  • Excellent written, verbal, and listening communication skills, including the ability to clearly convey information by a variety of methods and in various situations
  • Demonstrated credibility in being well-organized, able to multi-task, and adhere to deadlines
  • An affinity towards learning, by proactively diving deep into technical solution, business context, and team processes as a servant leader
  • This job will be based in Austin, TX
