Capital Projects Engineer

Position Summary

Come join a growing, exciting and fast paced Engineering Team at Catalent, Winchester, KY!

The Project Engineer is an engineering position for individuals with engineering experience or equivalent education. This position is responsible for identifying, leading, and driving projects that improve manufacturing safety, efficiency, quality, and compliance and reports to the Manager, CI, Technology and Capital Project Engineering.

Catalent s Winchester location is the flagship US manufacturing location for large scale complex controlled release (CR) oral dose forms, with integrated analytical and development services. With 20 years of expertise in product development, technology transfers and commercial manufacturing, and roots in industry leading Glatt technology. This site offers newly installed Fluid Beds, expanded analytical labs, and an advanced open facility design that provides flexibility in supporting the requirements of any new customer program.

The Role

  • Under the direction of site leadership, prioritizes capital projects for improving site performance and efficiency (safety, cost, quality)
  • Guides the specification and selection of process, utility, and facility equipment to support site needs.
  • Ensures all design and construction work complies to cGMP guidelines, as applicable.
  • Ensures compliance to cost, scope, and schedule.
  • Manage all contractors to ensure compliance to local site and corporate safety and cGMP requirements
  • Ensure compliance to Global Engineering Capital Project standards for all projects
  • Required to work effectively with key stakeholders, customers, suppliers, and peers for project success and sustainability.
  • Maintain all documentation through project from design/specification to full qualification.
  • Assist in the development of required documentation (user requirements, design specifications, validation protocols).

The Candidate

  • BS in Engineering (Mechanical or Electrical preferred), or related degrees or equivalent experience
  • 2-6 years of engineering experience in a manufacturing environment
  • Experience with project management or continuous improvement projects preferred
  • Prefer experience in pharmaceutical, food, or biotechnology industry
  • Fundamental understanding of project management methodologies (budgeting, scheduling)
  • Strong organization and communication skills with engineers, customers, site leadership
