The Iowa Coalition Against Sexual Assault is seeking an experienced professional to support services and collaborative efforts within our member programs. The Community Engagement Specialist will support victim services programs by encouraging holistic service delivery, fostering relationships with underserved communities, and working as an agent of social change to enhance sexual assault services in Iowa. In addition, this position will work in concert with other training team members for the delivery of victim advocate certification training.

Qualifications: Minimum three years of experience providing training, community organizing, or advocacy experienced in a community based agency, with at least one year focused on anti-violence topics  Knowledge of issues related to anti-violence, intersections of violence and underserved communities  Excellent oral and written communication, organization, and time management skills.  Experience delivering oral presentations to diverse professionals and audiences.  Ability to manage multiple projects at one time; work independently and with a team, and meet deadlines.  Demonstrated sensitivity to and knowledge of issues involved in working with diverse populations and organizations. Experience in developing programs in response to diverse needs.  Knowledge of considerations specific to working in a multi-disciplinary team in rural communities, including how oppression impacts the experiences of marginalized survivors when accessing traditional criminal legal systems.  Commitment to anti-racism and social justice values, ethics, and work.  Accept and abide by the mission and philosophy of IowaCASA.

Job Responsibilities:  Coordinate community engagement and outreach efforts to support allied organizations and victim services programs serving sexual assault survivors.  Collaborate with Membership & Sustainability Specialist to expand IowaCASA membership development.  Support sexual assault services programs in community conversations by creating and implementing a toolkit to ensure meaningful commitment to the process.  Strengthen capacity of member programs to provide victim-centered services that are reflective of the communities they serve. Community Engagement Specialist  Continuously enhance and update IowaCASA resource materials for membership and other organizations.  Participate in training and continuing education program as appropriate.  Provide technical assistance and support to members and community organizations to create sustainable and holistic services for sexual assault survivors.  Participate in task forces and committees as appropriate.  Provide training and technical assistance to advocates and programs on implementing community organizing and social change efforts.  Actively participate in anti-racism, social justice, and anti-oppression work of the coalition.  Other duties as designed.

Skill Requirements: Demonstrated experience in community organizing and social change efforts.  Knowledge of issues related to sexual assault intervention and prevention as well as rape crisis center standards and operations.  Excellent oral and written communication skills.  Excellent organization and time-management skills.  Ability to manage multiple projects at one time and meet deadlines.  Ability to work independently and in a team environment.  Ability to initiate and follow through on projects with a minimum of supervision.  Cooperative work ethic.  Demonstrated sensitivity to and knowledge of issues involved in working with diverse populations and organizations. Experience in developing programs in response to diverse needs.  Accept and abide by the mission and philosophy of IowaCASA.

Other requirements: Requires extensive statewide and occasional national travel. Proof of valid driver’s license, acceptable driving record, and auto insurance required; or ability to use alternate transportation.

Salary and Benefits: Minimum starting salary $47,500 annually. Health, dental, life and disability insurance. Flexible hours, paid holidays, paid sick leave (18 days per year) and paid vacation (20 days per year).
