Job Description



This position is for a full-time Design Engineer in our Municipal Group located in the Saginaw office.

  • Performs assignments designed to develop professional knowledge and abilities requiring application of standard techniques, procedures, and criteria in carrying out a sequence of related engineering tasks
  • Exercises judgment is required on details of work and in making preliminary or final selections and adaptations of engineering alternatives
  • Maintains daily inspection reports and familiar with plans and specifications
  • Observes work in progress to ensure conformance with specifications
  • Prepares sketches of construction installations that deviate from plans and incorporates changes into master plans
  • Duties include more direct client contact, attending and reporting at job progress meetings, material testing, conducting inspections, and notifying supervisor or Project Manager of problems and deviations from plans and specifications.
  • Using prescribed methods, performs specific and limited portions of a broader assignment of an experienced engineer
  • Applies standard practices and techniques in specific situations, adjusts and correlates data, recognizes discrepancies in results and follows operations through a series of related detailed steps or processes
  • Assists in the preparation of design plans, specifications, supporting documents, and permit applications for projects
  • Prepares quantities, cost estimates, and other supporting documentation for projects
  • Performs more complicated calculations and modeling
  • Performs plan drafting using AutoCAD
  • May direct and review the work of other Technicians and Designers
  • May serve as an on-site project representative on a construction site


  • Bachelor of Science in Civil Engineering or Environmental Engineering
  • EIT Certification
  • Experience with Arc GIS and AutoCAD preferred
