Director of K-12 Curriculum

The Art of Education University (AOEU) is seeking a Director of K-12 Curriculum to join our rapidly growing institution. This individual will play a key role in the philosophy and development of K-12 Curriculum resources for AOEU. This individual must understand the holistic needs of the art ed industry. This position will manage the creation of new content, the development of ongoing content, and participate in strategic planning efforts for future development.

Structured as a full-time exempt position within the institution, the Director of K-12 Curriculum will report directly to the President, Jessica Balsley. This position requires the ability to thrive in a fast-paced, rapidly-evolving environment.

  • Lead the vision and philosophy for AOEU’s K-12 curriculum resource development.
  • Manage the research and development of new curriculum products.
  • Understand and research industry needs and create content to meet those needs.
  • Understand curriculum standards by state and collaborate with compliance to align content to standards.
  • Produce and manage the production of K-12 curriculum resources for AOEU. Including, but not limited to: Lesson plans, artist bios, assessments, videos and supplemental resources.
  • Collaborate with outside content producers, graphic design, web development, copywriters, animators and AOEU Leadership ensure successful curriculum resource development.
  • Use data and feedback from customers and sales to implement improvements.
  • Participate in and conduct team trainings. Conduct a monthly branch meeting.
  • Manage the development of ongoing monthly content and participate in strategic planning efforts for future development.

  • Compensation & Benefits

    Director of K-12 Curriculum is a full-time, salaried position. Compensation is commensurate with education and experience. The Art of Education University provides a benefits package that includes: medical, dental, vision, appropriate technology, self-managed PTO, and 401K eligibility.

    Knowledge, Skills, & Abilities

  • Positive and engaging personality, mission-driven.
  • A firm understanding and holistic view of the art ed industry at large.
  • Strong attention to detail and highly organized.
  • Both people and project management skills.
  • Ability to act as a content tastemaker.
  • Ability to understand the needs of K-12 educators around the country.
  • Exceptional oral and written communication skills with the ability to edit and create strong resources.
  • Skill and ability to quickly learn various technology platforms with ease and confidence.
  • Ability to recognize stakeholder needs and modify product development to meet those needs.
  • Ability to work collaboratively with developers, graphic designers, animators, leadership, compliance and sales for successful product development.
  • Passion for the industry and ability to bring fresh ideas to the institution.
  • Education & Experience

  • Background in curriculum development, curriculum standards and leadership.
  • Background in Art Education and experience teaching art in the K-12 setting.
  • Minimum of a Bachelor’s Degree is required.
