Job Summary:

The Director of Program Management Office and Service Delivery Governance is responsible for organizing and directing demand management practices, establishing strategy and tactical processes to drive Wawa’s program delivery goals in support of Wawa’s business plan. This role is responsible for working with internal and external management and senior-level partners to keep abreast of and monitor enterprise programs and product portfolios, operational decisions, scheduling requirements, and/or contractual clarifications, in order to identify opportunities to ensure successful and timely implementation of define strategic outcomes. In addition, this role will provide improvements to business efficiencies by aligning delivery teams and executive leadership effectively across all areas of our business through directing a team of Engagement Managers. This role is also responsible for Portfolio Planning, Project Management, Service Delivery, Governance, Financial reporting related to business investments and includes business process design, use case and requirements creation, QA software testing, and product and project management with the core purpose to deliver enhanced technology and business processes at Wawa.

Principal Duties:

  • Provide processes and resources to maintain the portfolio and program plan for service demand, ensuring all program, product, maintenance and support activities are identified, budgeted, and resourced appropriately. Facilitate IT strategic planning, utilizing key external business and industry trends, as well as relevant benchmarking of competitors. Lead conversations to develop a relevant IT strategy to deliver on Wawa’s corporate strategy.
  • Ensure key business partners are able to achieve strategic business needs leveraging appropriate technologies. Direct the development of technology roadmaps in order to plan, organize and monitor multi-disciplined projects and business client requests for technology solutions in support of business and functional strategies. Ensure that these departments plan appropriately for funding and resources to accomplish their business objectives.
  • Organize and provide direction over Wawa’s enterprise IT governance process to review requirements, business case, and goals for all initiatives to ensure they are aligned with company strategy and IT non-functional standards.
  • Partner with Finance on Wawa’s portfolio planning and budget process to ensure all delivery needs are adequately resourced and appropriately scheduled for the portfolio of projects in accordance with defined governance and demand management policies and procedures. Leverage the appropriate project management methodology (Waterfall, Agile, Kanban) in order to complete complex programs more effectively, while ensuring that allocations are managed within budget with transparency of costs and accountability.
  • Ensure QA methodologies are in place to design and conduct comprehensive software tests. Review system requirements and track quality assurance metrics (e.g. defect densities and open defect counts.) to ensure quality product deployments while being cost-effective through automation.
  • Monitor IT key performance indicators as defined by the business as well as defined internal metrics to the IT department. Conduct routine reviews with leadership to drive cost remediation and continuous process improvement.
  • Maintain an updated understanding of key technology and industry trends and use this information to anticipate and interpret the impact to the business. Identify opportunities to strategically leverage technology to optimize the business and advocate their application within the enterprise as appropriate. Develop product plans to implement these functionality and technologies while ensuring that a suitable support model is established. Identify opportunities to simplify our business environment leveraging product portfolio methodologies, business process and test services that enhance organizational capabilities, increase delivery velocity, and build competitive advantage.
  • Provide overall direction and support for team and monitor and assess individual work in accordance with high standards of excellence. Provide feedback, coaching, support, opportunities for development, complete performance appraisals, take corrective action when appropriate, and participate in hiring decisions.
  • Essential Functions:

  • Strong knowledge of IT disciplines and trends
  • Strong knowledge and proven experience of project management disciplines and methodology
  • Basic financial management knowledge with strong project financial management experience
  • Proven work experience in software development program management
  • Proven work experience in software quality assurance
  • Strong knowledge of software QA methodologies, tools and processes
  • Highly developed consultative, strategic, facilitative and project management skills
  • High degree of professionalism and confidentiality
  • Ability to effectively negotiate, build consensus, anticipate and solve problems
  • Work collaboratively with cross-functional teams
  • Establish and maintain a working environment conducive to positive morale, individual style, quality, creativity, and teamwork
  • Minimum Requirements

    Basic Qualifications:

  • Bachelor’s degree preferred
  • 10 + years business experience
  • 8 - 10 years Project Management experience
  • Proven experience leveraging PMI and/or Agile / SCRUM methodologies
  • Preferred experience directing a software development function in developing, releasing, and maintaining software applications/operating systems according to business needs
  • Strong business knowledge and process expertise
  • Business architecture experience
