We provide innovative support for our current and future products and services, act as global scouts for innovative technologies, and solve our customers most difficult challenges in technology.The BR&T Materials & Manufacturing Technology (MMT) organization is seeking a highly-motivated & energetic Materials and Processes Engineer for its St. Louis, Missouri Next Gen Metals & Additive Manufacturing Team. This team is comprised of world-class materials engineers & technicians dedicated to researching & developing the next generation of metallic solutions for the Boeing Enterprise.Job Responsibilities include:
  • Execution of metals development, forming, joining, and metals additive related activities under the guidance of engineering leads.
  • Leading processing and characterization activities for metallic R&D efforts.
  • Interacting with internal and external customers, providing output and insight on ongoing R&D activities.
  • Supporting external capture of Contracted Research & Development [CRAD] goals in the field of aerospace & defense materials development.
  • Documentation and reporting of R&D activities
  • Support the creation, release, and maintenance of internal materials and process specifications.
  • Provide materials engineering expertise to supplier qualification activities.
  • Collaboration of external partners [government academia, suppliers, other aerospace companies] on procurement and research & development activities.
  • Metallic Component design reviews for productivity
  • Help seek out and evaluate potential points of insertion for new technologies; support metallic technology trade studies and business case development.

  • This position requires the ability to obtain a U.S. Security Clearance for which the U.S. Government requires U.S. Citizenship
  • Experience with Materials Science fundamentals, especially as they apply to metallurgy, metals processing, and metallic additive manufacturing
  • Experience with metallic additive manufacturing
  • Preferred Qualifications:
  • Experience developing aerospace relevant alloys including aluminum, titanium, nickel, high-strength steel, and refractory alloys
  • Experience in the specification and creation of metallic additively manufactured components, specifically for the aerospace industry
  • Typical education/experience:Degree and typical experience in engineering classification: Bachelor s and 2 or more years experience or a Master s degree with experience. Bachelor, Master or Doctorate of Science degree from an accredited course of study, in engineering, computer science, mathematics, physics or chemistry. ABET is the preferred, although not required, accreditation standard.Yes, 10 % of the Time Engineering Test and Tech Individual Contributor No No Standard United States; The Boeing Company
