Engineering Manager
The Engineering Manager reports directly to the Director of Engineering under limited supervision and is responsible for multiple project level activities in the areas of new equipment design, existing equipment modification and enhancement, equipment testing, customer and supplier presentation, project documentation. The Engineering Manager will supervise the overall responsibilities of the manufacturing engineering and BOM functions. The incumbent will work with Product Engineering, Maintenance, Operations, and outside equipment manufacturers to ensure new equipment development projects are successful.
Supervises and provides direction on the day to day activities of manufacturing engineering, industrial engineering and bill of material processes.
Manage total project activities with a planned schedule for timely completion.
Correlate, consult, collect data, test, write test reports, develop the project plan, and advise supervisor of recommended courses of action as required.
Manage and present design proposals for discussion and evaluation with management, customer, vendors, trade organizations and code groups.
Manage the collection of data, assemble results, reports and recommendations accumulated during execution of the project plan and arrange into accurate and concise documentation for the engineering project files.
Prepares RFEs for engineering tools and equipment needed for execution of projects.
Directs the preparation, execution and release of Engineering Change Orders (ECOs) and the maintenance of engineering system documentation.
Evaluates cost recommendations concerning project level design activity and equipment/tooling projects.
Recommends replacement of existing equipment; specifying requirements, and recommending vendors and participates in the development of the capital budget.
Assures that the design and specifications, construction and debugging of new tooling/processes/equipment are consistent with requirements, industry specifications, OSHA/safety, cost justifications, and time constraints.
Interviews, trains, develops, and evaluates performance of subordinates instilling and developing PDPs, POMs, and Standard Work.
Recommends the development of methods, tooling, labor, and set up estimates for new equipment and revisions for existing equipment. Assures that design of new and redesigned and/or modification of existing machines, equipment, and manufacturing procedures are being satisfactorily performed.
Establishes priorities to insure all machinery, equipment and facilities are in good, safe working condition.
