PositionAs part of the of the Operations team, the Finance and Operations Assistant will be responsible for the day-to-day functioning of the TLC office in Oakland and will provide support for TLC’s other offices in administration, finance, human resources, and IT. This full-time, nonexempt/hourly position is an opportunity to gain experience and build skills in many areas of nonprofit operations and finance.

Primary Responsibilities

  • Maintain the TLC offices as a comfortable, clean, and organized work environments.
  • Organize office, kitchen, and IT supplies, ensure that needed items are always in stock, and manage returns.
  • Maintain office equipment (phones, printers, copiers) and schedule servicing.
  • Collect and distribute mail, faxes, and general voicemails daily, take mail to drop box as needed.
  • Organize and maintain filing systems and storage.
  • Assist with accounts payable: code and record expenses, document credit card expenses, and mail payments.
  • Assist staff with basic IT troubleshooting.
  • Schedule and support meetings, including quarterly board meetings.
  • Arrange travel for executive staff as needed.
  • Other duties as assigned.
  • Qualifications and Requirements

  • Two years’ professional work experience.
  • Proficiency in Microsoft Office, specifically Word and Outlook, Excel preferred.
  • Proficiency in basic internet search functions.
  • Excellent organizational skills and attention to detail.
  • Experience working in teams with people from a variety of racial, ethnic, socioeconomic, educational, religious, sexual, gender, and generational backgrounds.
  • A demonstrated commitment to a broad range of social, racial, and economic justice issues and an understanding of the multiple communities TLC represents.
  • Preferred Qualifications

  • experience arranging travel and lodging.
  • familiarity with QuickBooks.
  • proficiency in a language other than English.
  • experience with racial justice, immigrants’ rights and/or trans justice work.
