Job Description

GREAT OPPORTUNITY FOR RECENT ACCOUNTING GRADUATES! Entry level position in local non-profit accounting office.

Performs general clerical, accounting, cash handling and bookkeeping support functions.

Main Job Tasks and Responsibilities

Accounts receivable functions

  • Collect and verify deposits
  • Accurately count cash and checks, and prepare bank deposit tickets
  • Prepare deposit spread sheet
  • Enter deposit data into QB
  • Organize, scan and file deposit paperwork
  • Reconcile deposit and credit card settlement amounts at the end of each month
  • Accounting & payable functions

  • Check, verify and enter invoices into QB
  • Prepare payables list for weekly meeting
  • Prepare checks for signatures and mailing
  • Analyze discrepancies and unpaid invoices
  • Organize, scan and file payable records and vendor files
  • Support functions

  • Assist in month end reporting procedures
  • Record and reconcile prepaid expenses and unearned revenues monthly
  • Find and use accounting data, pos software and merchant service accounts to resolve accounting problems and discrepancies
  • Perform filing and general administrative tasks
  • Education and Experience

  • 1 - 3 years related work experience preferred
  • Bachelor degree in business or accounting preferred, minimum 2 years related study required
  • MS Office and QuickBooks experience
  • Knowledge of accounting and bookkeeping principles and procedures
