Augustine Consulting Inc. (ACI), an established provider of software engineering, technology, system integration, and select services to the Government, is currently seeking a Junior MCAD Designer. The junior designer will apply technical judgment based upon engineering principles in the design and development of innovative products; utilize creativity to formulate design concepts that meet the form, fit, and functional requirements for new product concepts; use physical and computational simulation, analysis, and design trade studies as inherent activities of product development; ensure design feasibility from a manufacturing and product maintenance perspective; communicate design options and recommended approach to product development teams, stakeholders, and manufacturing partners.
This position’s duties include, but are not limited to:
Initiating, designing, developing, executing, and evaluating new processes and products
Produciing designs, models, and product definition of complex objects
Determining product requirements based on user needs
Establishing design criteria and resolveing problems of design
Using CAD application software to develop electrical or mechanical design concepts
Creating design definition documentation utilizing Geometric Dimensioning and Tolerancing (GD&T) ensuring that the design can be effectively manufactured and inspected
Evaluating design options using optimization techniques
Generating fabrication drawings, assembly drawings and files for manufacturing, assembly, and test
Specifying materials, equipment, and supplies required to complete product development and may evaluate vendor capabilities to provide required products or services
Establishing and reviewing design methods and procedures and preparing design specifications, analyses, and recommendations for presentation and approval
May provide the necessary documentation to successfully deploy the product in the field
In particular MCAD Designers shall:
Design devices, components, apparatus, systems or equipment
Provide annotation and BOM generation
Conduct mathematical and statistical analyses
Must possess an Associate s Degree in a relevant engineering technology field from a Community College or an accredited Technical Institute plus a minimum of six (6) years of experience. Or, a Bachelor s or Master s degree in relevant engineering technology field plus a minimum of four (4) years of experience.
Thorough knowledge of and applied experience with scientific and engineering methods.
Thorough knowledge of and experience with designing, planning, and executing design, and development projects.
Demonstrated ability to team across disciplines.
Ability to understand and interpret various design documents, such as drawings and schematics.
Ability to use and apply standard computer aided design (CAD) or computer aided manufacturing (CAM) principles, theories, concepts, and techniques.
Working knowledge of GD&T.
Demonstrated technical judgment in selecting methods and techniques for product development.
Ability to appply configuration management principles to manage design authorization and change.
Ability to work closely with customers and suppliers to define expectations and mutual responsibilities.
