Job Description

A new opportunity is available for an Engineer skilled in problem solving and implementing process improvements that enjoys managing operations and coaching people. The role is for a Business Unit Manager to drive excellent Operational Efficiency within our production area. This is a Fortune 500 medical device manufacturing company. Responsibilities include:

  • Drive a culture of operational excellence by using systematic approach to Lean and Six Sigma
  • Manage production operations and all personnel including Engineering, Supply Chain / Production Scheduling, Maintenance, EHS, and Supervisors
  • Coach and mentor production supervisors to develop their leadership skills
  • Focus on safety metrics and lead a behavior-based safety culture
  • Measure KPIs and ensure targets are being met while maintaining a high standard of quality
  • Perform root cause analysis, find solution to problems, and implement corrective actions
  • Collaborate with maintenance and engineering to improve equipment consistency and productivity
  • Develop Value Stream Mapping, identify areas of improvements, implement lean manufacturing and production standardizations to increase production output and decrease cost
  • Operate in cross functional teams with Engineering, Maintenance, Quality, EHS, etc. to maximize operational efficiency efforts
  • Requirements include:

  • Bachelor of Science in Engineering or related technical field
  • Experience managing production as well as staff level personnel
  • Experience with Six Sigma, Green Belt or Black belt certification preferred
  • Formal training in Lean Manufacturing / Continuous Improvement
  • Proven leadership skills and enthusiasm for training and developing others
  • Experience managing systems as well as leading and developing people
  • Desire and ability to learn, grow, and advance within this dynamic company
