An ideal candidate should have experience in a start up environment & background in chemical manufacturing.
This is a hands-on leadership position that is responsible to plan, organize and direct all maintenance and project related activity for the plant. The successful candidate will have experience working in a Chemical Manufacturing facility, be continuous improvement minded, have experience leading a maintenance team, and be willing to ‘pick up the tools’ when necessary to support the plant.
ESSENTIAL DUTIES AND RESPONSIBILITIES include the following; other duties may be assigned:
Understands and promotes quality, safety, production and maintenance/electrical/facility standards.
Manage the design, layout, installation and maintenance or production equipment and the building facility on site.
Develop and manage predictive and preventative maintenance programs for the site to ensure a high level of production efficiency and product quality.
Develop and maintain the necessary emergency backup systems/contingencies to ensure business continuity.
Develop and manages computerized maintenance management system (CMMS)
Ongoing review of equipment and systems to identify risk and develop programs and initiatives to mitigate.
Manage and update list of critical equipment.
Maintain records related to ISO9001 calibrations.
Develop KPI’s related to the reliability and operation of the site to identify, develop systems to gather data and track equipment performance and take appropriate actions.
Investigate and troubleshoot equipment malfunctions in-order to maximize production efficiency and product quality.
Must be able to read and understand blueprints, mechanical drawings, and maintenance instructions.
Manages the maintenance budget and recommends cost saving changes to keep maintenance spending within budget.
Establish and monitor inventory of maintenance supplies and tools. Select and manage any required outside maintenance services.
Assist the Manufacturing Team with facilities improvements that ensure optimal worker safety, environmental compliance, and site housekeeping
Monitor utilities usage and provide reports internally and externally as necessary. Troubleshoot utility consumption issues to ensure maximum utility efficiency.
Maintains replacement and spare part inventory at proper levels to ensure equipment is repaired in a timely manner.
Develop relationship with local equipment and supplier vendors.
Supervise the hourly maintenance staff, utilities operation and ownership of all maintenance projects, systems and activities.
Ability to speak effectively to groups (customers, employees). Excellent communication skills and proven experience coaching and developing teams.
EDUCATION and/or EXPERIENCE
Prefer a bachelor’s degree in Engineering or a related technical field or equivalent experience.
Minimum five years experience in maintenance and/or engineering management.
Ability to work off–shift hours and weekends, as needed. Must be able to perform tasks indoors and outdoors, comfortable working at heights, climb stairs and ladders, carry 40 lbs., stoop, bend, kneel, squat.
