Job Title: Manager, Engineering

Job Description: The Manager, Engineering at Northwestern Mutual Life Insurance Company in Milwaukee, Wisconsin will oversee project database architecture, data migration strategy, storage and reporting layer for CRM book of Business Model databases in Power Designer to accommodate new features. Lead a team [of Tech Leads and Engineers] with a focus on delivering value, developing teams and leading change. Monitor team performance and results through quantitative and qualitative measures of value, outcome, velocity, engagement, and satisfaction. Clarify objectives and remove obstacles and barriers that prevent the team from achieving results and plan for growth and future technical strategy of the product. Work with business partners to translate business priorities into technical requirements. Help build solution option comparison for AWS (Amazon Web Services) and Azure SQL DW and evaluate performance, security, Power BI and API Integration needs. Develop, review, and debug T-SQL code, SSIS (SQL Server Integration Services) packages, SSAS (SQL Server Analysis Services) Cubes, SSRS, and Power BI reports with advanced row level security to integrate with CRM (Microsoft Dynamics) application. Work with Azure Infrastructure (AAS, PaaS SWL Server). Implement new design patterns that can increase readability, reduce maintenance, and enhance visibility of the project. Migrate to cloud based solution by analyzing cloud infrastructure, application usage, storage size and growth rate. Monitor multiple SQL Servers and resolve any database administrative issues that impact project workflow. Work with Agile methodologies and DevOps environments. Perform Data Modeling on OLTP and Data Warehouse systems. Develop, implement, and promote agile / lean best practice standards including the use of tools where appropriate.

Minimum Requirements: Master s degree in Computer Science, Computer Engineering or related field plus two years of Business Intelligence experience. Will also accept a Bachelor s degree in Computer Science, Computer Engineering or related field plus five years of progressive Business Intelligence experience. Two years of experience must include two years of experience with each of the following: (1) MSBI (SSIS, SSAS, and SSRS); (2) Data Modeling on OLTP and Data Warehouse systems; (3) Power BI development; (4) BI Lead experience of development teams; (5) Azure Infrastructure; and (6) working with business partners to translate business priorities into technical requirements.
