TrinityRail is searching for a Manufacturing Engineer to join our Railcar Engineering team at our corporate office in Dallas, Texas. The Manufacturing Engineer will work with production plants and act as a liaison between engineering, manufacturing and supply chain to maximize cost effective design, manufacturability, efficient equipment layout and purchase of products/materials to meet performance requirements. #work4trinity What you ll do:
  • Review new designs during development of division products and recommend modifications where advisable to minimize cost and conform to production capabilities and limitations.
  • Review Bills of Materials to determine material shapes, sizes, quality to best utilize manufacturing capabilities.
  • Review manufacturing operations and maintain a current project schedule which reflects current machine design requirements. Maintain records of Bill of Material and drawing releases.
  • Provide engineering advice, compile data and determines probable costs for process improvement projects.
  • Accumulate information and prepare feasibility studies to justify purchase or building of equipment required for new manufacturing methods.
  • Perform time and motion studies where applicable.
  • Analyze welding procedures and processes.
  • Manufacturing engineering support to new product launches, tooling and fixture evaluation, design for manufacturing analysis
  • Creation and maintenance of standardized work instructions for production personnel and support functions
  • Participant in Kaizen events and Continuous Improvement inititatives
  • Development and validation of time studies and standards for critical production processes
  • Qualifications

    What you ll need:
  • Bachelor’s Degree in Mechanical Engineering, Manufacturing/Industrial Engineering or Mechatronics
  • 3-5 years’ experience working directly within a production environment as Industrial or Manufacturing Engineering resource; preferably steel assembly and welding processes
  • 2-4+ years’ experience with engineering processes, procedures and administration; emphasis on heavy manufacturing; railcar design preferred
  • Outstanding communication skills – both written and verbal
  • Excellent Microsoft Office skills necessary
  • Ability to multi-task / handle multiple projects of differing scale
  • Ability to travel 50% of the time to production facilities in the US and Mexico
  • Bilingual, English/Spanish is a plus
