Job Title Mechanical Engineer - Sustaining Job Description In this role, you have the opportunity to Lead lifecycle management of existing products in a high volume medical device manufacturing system within the Sleep Therapy business group. The successful applicant in this position will provide ongoing engineering and project management support for Sleep Therapy Patient Interface products. You are responsible for Providing technical expertise and ongoing engineering support of quality Patient Interface products. Acting as the project lead for post release Marketing, Procurement, Operations, Quality and Regulatory design changes. Actively participating and presenting ideas on Design for Excellence (DFx) margin improvement ideas, product improvements and quality improvements. Interacting with Design Quality Engineering, Procurement, Marketing, Distribution, Customer Service, and fellow engineers to achieve project and product objectives for safety, performance, usability, manufacturability, reliability, cost, quality, and time to market. Ongoing support of the Design Change Request (DCR) process and participation in the Change Control Board for Patient Interface products. Supporting both internal as well as contract manufacturing sites that manufacture our products You are a part of The Sleep Therapy business group is responsible for the design/development, release to production and ongoing support of products that diagnose and treat Obstructive Sleep Apnea and other sleep disordered breathing conditions. This role will initially be based in our Monroeville office. Philips will be relocating this office to a new site in Bakery Square, one of the premier locations in Pittsburgh. This is a very exciting time to be joining Philips, as this new location will be the Sleep & Respiratory Center of Excellence. The new office is set to open in late 2020. To succeed in this role, you should have the following skills and experience BS or MS in Mechanical Engineering or Mechanical Engineering Technology. 5+ years of relevant engineering experience is required. Patient Interface mask/circuit experience is preferred. Customer Focus and a sense of urgency when dealing with quality, supply chain and line down issues. Excellent communication and presentation skills for reporting project status & conducting design reviews. Ability to communicate effectively to all levels of the organization is required. Ability to multi-task on several projects simultaneously, involving and interacting with different departments at any given time. Ability to lead others on projects, across all facets of the organization. Sound technical decision-making logic and problem solving skills. Able to think logically and practically when evaluating solutions using objective rather than subjective tools. Composure, conflict management, timely decision making, listening skills, self-motivation, and perseverance are all requirements of this position. Ability to travel, domestically as well as internationally, approximately 10% of the time. US work authorization is a precondition of employment.
