Pond & Company is looking for a Mechanical Engineer to fulfill project requirements in our Huntsville office. Qualified candidates must have a minimum 7 years of experience in mechanical engineering design, preferably in a consulting environment. Candidates must have a Bachelors of Science in Mechanical Engineering or Mechanical Engineering Technology with a proven understanding of applied engineering. Professional Engineer (PE) registration is required. LEED BD+C credential is preferred.
Additional job skills that would enhance a candidate’s standing include: the ability to estimate general energy usage for facilities and how various energy users play into the overall efficiency and LEED standards; a strong knowledge of control systems, communication protocols and interfaces, and ideas on how to depict control requirements on drawings and in specifications. Experience running energy simulations for buildings, both conceptually and later for LEED/EPAct proof of compliance, will be given greater consideration. Field experience, as it relates to Title II / construction inspection services, SMACNA, duct and pipe supports, smoke and fire damper installations, and equipment layouts, is also desired. Experience with RS Means, and general exposure to construction estimating, is preferred. Candidates should have experience in the preparation of construction plans and specifications based on the appropriate design standards, project and client requirements, and all applicable codes. Experience with DOD projects is a plus.

Candidates must have excellent written and verbal communication skills in English; and be authorized to work in the US for any employer. All candidates are required to have the ability to pass a security / background check and security clearance investigation. This position will require a U.S. Passport and the ability to travel.
Strong knowledge of Microsoft Office software (Excel, PowerPoint, etc.) is required. Proficiency in AutoCAD required, Revit / BIM a plus.
Candidates need to be effective verbal and nonverbal communicators. Creative problem-solving skills to gather relevant information to solve less well-defined engineering problems are also required. The strongest candidates should be able to work on several projects or issues simultaneously and effectively manage their time to meet firm deadlines. The ability to facilitate group workshops or design and engineering charrettes is also extremely helpful.
