Mechanical Engineer

Job Description

Clay and Bailey Mfg, Co, a Kansas City manufacturing company, is seeking a Mechanical Engineer. The individualshould possess strong engineering, project management, andinterpersonal skills. This individual is primarily responsible for the development of new products and improvements to the existing product lines performance and design.

Job duties include:

  • Consulting with sales/marketing and customers to determine product design requirements; product definition
  • Investigating and defining appropriate materials and efficient production processes
  • New product development, prototyping, and testing
  • Establishing design briefs and maintaining product development records
  • Presentation of design samples to internal and external customers
  • Working with the Quality Department to qualify new materials and suppliers
  • Working with the Purchasing Department to obtain new materials, parts, etc.
  • Providing technical support to internal and external customers
  • Working with the Production Department on prototype product manufacturability, pilot production runs, and product launches
  • Creating a bill of materials, procedures, work instructions, workflows, design guides, manuals, etc.
  • Utilizing computer-aided design (CAD), SOLIDWORKS, SOLIDWORKS
  • Simulation andSOLIDWORKS Flow Simulation Creating, checking and approving various drawings, engineering documents, etc.
  • Resolving field issues and providing troubleshooting (on-site or via teleconference)
  • Performing a Root Cause Analysis for returned products
  • Representing company at trade shows
  • Working with regulatory and standards agencies (U.S. DOT, UL, etc.) and ensuring regulatory compliance
  • Key requirements:

  • Bachelor’s Degree in Engineering, preferably mechanical engineering
  • 7+ years of experience as an Engineer in a manufacturing environment
  • Prior experience with petroleum equipment is highly desirable
  • Good communication skills
  • Prior personnel supervision a plus
