Job Description The Communications Department at MSK is seeking a Medical Illustrator/Animator to join their thriving team. The Medical Illustrator/Animator in Design & Creative Services is an artist with specialized training and advanced education in medicine, science, art, design, visual technology and media techniques. Collaborating with scientists, physicians, and other content specialists, medical illustrators serve as visual translators of complex technical information to support education, medical and life science research, patient care, patient education, public relations, and Communications Department’s objectives. As the Medical Illustrator/Animator, you will:
  • Be responsible for medical illustration throughout all areas of MSK using a combination of technical and creative skills.
  • Build imagery that advances medical science knowledge and empowers health literacy for patients and the public.
  • Illustrate procedures and human anatomy, crafted for website, social media, print collateral, academic materials, and internal communications. May require observation in clinical setting.
  • Generate illustrations designed for use in clinical trials, research papers, publications and journal and grant submissions. These could include depictions of hospital settings, procedure equipment and patients or caregivers.
  • Produce illustrations and animations designed in collaboration with researchers for scientific guides and websites. Depictions of cellular and sub-cellular structures and biomolecular pathways.
  • Research and reading case literature and building illustrations to be enlarged and used in court by MSK Legal defense. Also requires working closely with the legal counsel.
  • Build and complete full color storyboard; meet with clients for approvals/ changes; collaborate with supervisor to ensure graphics meet objectives; incorporate changes where needed
  • Deliver final animation in requested formats
  • You need:
  • Accredited Master's Degree
  • Minimum of four (4) years of medical illustration experience in a technical setting
  • Extensive medical and anatomical knowledge
  • Animation experience #LI-POST
