Our Medical Technology Team: Healthcare is one of our leading industry competencies and the Life Sciences Division is Simon-Kucher’s largest industry division. Our Medical Technology Team operates out of the US in our Boston and San Francisco offices. Medical Technology is a young and fast growing business within our Life Sciences Division. We work with 40 of the top 45 medical technology companies in an exciting and dynamically growing market environment that covers medical devices, diagnostics, surgical and laboratory equipment, digital health, and healthcare IT. Recent projects include:
  • Market opportunity assessments
  • Market access strategies
  • Product and service design
  • Commercial due diligence audits
  • Pricing and reimbursement strategies
  • Sales force optimization
  • Our Unique Culture: Our typical project team consists of 3-5 consultants including Partners, allowing associates at all levels to work closely with and learn from experts in our field. We feel that this limits bureaucracy, gives our associates an opportunity to grow and take on new roles, and ensures that all team members can make meaningful contributions to our clients. We employ rigorous methodologies that combine quantitative and qualitative evidence. To the greatest degree possible, our recommendations are based on empirical data rather than subjective perceptions. Associates have ample opportunity to work with industry experts both domestically and internationally. Our Medical Technology practice is expected to more than double in size in the next 5 years and this provides opportunities for fast advancement. At the same time, we highly value our associates and provide opportunities for flexible career advancement to best meet individual goals. We also have a formal mentorship program that supports associates as they onboard and grow within the firm. What we are looking for: Within the Life Sciences Division in the U.S., more than 25% of our associates have PhDs and another 20% have MBAs. Our Medical Technology practice is currently looking for Full-time Consultant candidates to be based in our Boston and San Francisco offices. Ideal candidates have obtained an advanced degree (i.e. M.S., M.B.A, Ph.D., M.D.) and/ or have 2-5 years of business or consulting experience in the medical technology sector. Consultants are expected to quickly grow into the role of managing project teams and clients. They are responsible for synthesizing research and analysis into strategic recommendations for our clients. Successful candidates have strong analytical, quantitative, leadership and communication skills. They also show a high degree of initiative and thrive in an entrepreneurial environment. Prior experience using statistical software packages like MATLAB, R, STATA, SPSS, or SAS are a plus. As a global firm working on multi-country projects, foreign language skills are a plus.
