Job Summary: Responsible for providing direct individual and group trauma-informed mental health counseling and other appropriate mental health services to men, women and youth involved in CCA s NYC programs. Provide clinical support to CCA case managers, education, and employment team members, mentors, and substance use treatment counselors to facilitate the implementation of trauma-informed and other sound clinical practices. In collaboration with Program Directors and other mental health staff, create and co-facilitate a robust training series for staff on best clinical practices. Duties and Responsibilities: Collaborate with Site Supervisor Program Directors, clinical and treatment staff, and consultants around treatment issues and other related to the mental health of CCA s participants. Mental Health Specialist will support the expansion of mental health services across all NYC programs by supporting the enhancement of their corresponding enrollment processes with the goal of fostering the accessibility of mental health services for all incoming participants. In collaboration with Program Directors, revise the internal referral protocols for participants to complete mental health assessments on-site. Collaborate with the Director of Sentencing Mitigation, Compliance and Reporting and the Director Participant Development and Special Projects on addressing crisis and other mental health issues of participants. Co-create and co-facilitate internal trainings for staff around mental health practices. Internal trainings will include, but not limited to; trauma-informed practices, strengths-based approaches, and crisis intervention. Conduct mental health, trauma, and other appropriate assessments for program participants. Assess participants mental status through interviews or observations and develop treatment plans. When applicable, identify and initiate referrals to appropriate external services. When applicable, plan and initiate referrals to other healthcare providers, including psychiatrists and other higher levels of care. Provide one-on-one therapy sessions to participants assigned to Mental Health Specialist s caseload. Monitor participants progress and adjust treatment plans accordingly. Liaise with providers to monitor outcomes of external referrals initiated as part of individual treatment plans. Facilitate psycho-social educational and trauma-informed workshops for participants. When applicable, provide psycho educational support to participants families about the mental health needs faced by the participant and how families may aide the recovery process. Assist in crisis intervention including identifying appropriate methods of intervention. Complete psychosocial evaluations. Complete pre- and post-inventories to measure mental health outcomes. Monitor participants treatment progress and maintain written records of all participant interactions in accordance with program(s) requirements. When applicable, maintain written records of interactions with participants family members. Participate in clinical staff meetings, case conferences, and supervisory meetings. Participate in in-house and external training. Qualifications: LMSW or LCSW or LMHC. We seek talented, dedicated individuals who possess a strong commitment to CCA s mission of reintegrative justice. Experience and/or extensive knowledge of adolescent development along with a background in cognitive behavioral therapy, motivational interviewing, and trauma-focused therapeutic modalities.
