Savannah River National Laboratory (SRNL) is a multi-program laboratory applying state of the art science and practical, high-value, cost-effective solutions to complex technical problems to protect the nation. Located at the U.S. Department of Energy’s (DOE) Savannah River Site (SRS), the laboratory develops and deploys innovative technologies to address some of the nation’s environmental, energy, and national security challenges. Analyst I is an entry level position. They will execute portions of work scopes consistent with their training and experience under the direction of experienced staff members. Learn the Laboratory s requirements for accomplishing tasks. Interact professionally with coworkers. 1. Security is a primary responsibility for all Laboratory employees. Maintains required security training, assures security compliance and makes security an integral part of every task, including taking the necessary steps to stop work if continuing the job compromises security. In particular, the ability to obtain and maintain the appropriate security clearances and the proper handling of classified materials and information is a condition of the position. 2. Under the guidance of senior staff, assists in collecting and collating information that can be used by the experienced National Security Staff for briefing and further analysis and distribution. Assignments will increase in complexity and breadth with experience. 3. Develops and applies functional area of expertise (e.g. culture/linguistics for country of interest, nuclear propulsion systems, etc.) to support national security analyses. 4. Develops an initial understanding of their sponsoring agencies. 5. Assists and participates in presentations on their work products.

Basic Qualifications (Quantifiable; e.g. Three Years Experience, Bachelors Degree)
Knowledge of research and analytical methodology in functional area of expertise and experience in performing analytical tasks and in providing analytical services is required. Educational Requirements: A Bachelor s degree with 0-2 years relevant functional or technical experience or a Master s degree in relevant functional area. (The degrees may be in physical or social science, engineering, policy/diplomacy, military science, linguistics, etc. that provide foundational knowledge to support national security analysis.) High school diploma and at least 9-12 years of functional or technical experience relevant to National Security Analysis or an associate s degree in a discipline relevant to National Security analysis with at least 4-7 years of related experience may also qualify depending on the relevance and depth of the related experience and training. Functional areas include but are not limited to military science, geography, linguistics, nuclear propulsion systems, sensing technology, nuclear material production, etc.
