The roleThe Night Proofreader Fellow ensures the high quality and accuracy of materials through attention to detail and superior proofreading skills. The Night Proofreader Fellow also proactively manages workflow of assigned projects. She/he also fulfills data permission requests, orders references and articles as well as maintains a library of all materials and their documentation. This role supports the department across all brands and media channels, as needed.A fellowship is an entry-level position designed to teach the employee the fundamental facets of advertising, the company and their departments. With a focus on training, our Fellows will have the opportunity to participate in training courses such as Business Writing, Negotiation Skills and Presentation Skills; as well as lunch and learns to understand how each department partners services our clients.What we expect from youProvide outstanding proofreading services for all designated projectsFollow established procedures/guidelines to ensure consistent work qualityPerforms quality control measures on files created by the studio by comparing to back-up and running a spell-check.Checks changes on extensive alteration roundsPerforms an initial edit/cold read for projects originating in the studioManages and fulfills research librarian requests to order data permissions, references or articlesMaintains organized catalog of materials and their documentationCollaborates with the studio team as well as the project managers.Has a keen eye for details and can spot a needle in a haystackFollows-up and follows-through on all assignments while paying close attention to deadlinesCan work quickly, cleanly, efficiently, and effectively under pressureAdheres to and monitors agency guidelines related to file naming, file and folder management, back-up/archiving, and un-archiving of files.Keeps Studio Manager informed when said guidelines are not being followed.Attends departmental meetings when scheduledDemonstrates high level of efficiency in proofreading materials for spelling, grammar, punctuation, syntax, usage, and consistencyHas cross platform proficiency and can work comfortable on a PC or a MacHas a solid understanding of Adobe Acrobat and uses proper editorial proofreader's marksHas a proficiency in Microsoft Office Suite (PowerPoint, Word, Excel)Projects "customer-centric" attitude in all interactions (internal and external), promoting a positive agency and team atmosphereProjects a professional image, always remaining calm despite high pressure situationComplies with HPS procedures and practices with regard to workflow and file managementWhen applicable, alerts managers when client/account input may cause job to go over budget or deadlinePerforms other duties as assigned by the Studio Director, Director of Operations, or the Studio ManagerDemonstrates a proactive approach to enhancing the position and is a proponent for new efficiencies and techniquesAssists in training freelancers and new employeesManages time efficiently and is able to set priorities and meet deadlines while handling multiple projectsExcels at his/her daily workMaintains accurate and up-to-date time sheetsBackground/experience and skillsBachelor's degreeWorking knowledge of current AMA style (10th edition)Excellent interpersonal, written, and oral communication skillsProficiency in English grammar and usageFamiliarity with digital media (navigating web/device interfaces)Experience with digital routing systemsProficiency in MS Office, including Word, Excel, and PowerPointPharmaceutical advertising agency and medical education experience a plusMust be able to work flexible hours when neededDeadline driven, detail oriented, and organized with an enthusiasm for collaborationProblem-solving skills a mustMust be a self-starter
