Job Description

Pond & Company is looking for an experienced Piping Designer to join our award-winning Oil & Gas team located in our Metro Atlanta corporate office. This position will entail working within a design team in our Oil & Gas Mechanical Design Department, serving our client’s needs in bulk fuel storage, natural gas facilities, pipelines and fuel dispensing systems. Our highly-trained, specialized professionals bring vast experience, including more than 750 tank, terminal and pipeline projects at more than 250 installations worldwide, ranging in construction size from $50,000 to $120,000,000. Our industry-leading Oil & Gas system experts understand the liquid petroleum and natural gas markets and are specialists in the field with the ability to get the job done on time, on budget and within regulations. Our broad range of clients include major oil companies, pipeline companies, airlines, airport authorities, local and federal government agencies, and numerous branches of the US military.

Job Qualifications: 5-7 years’ experience as a Piping Designer in consulting environment or energy company designing projects related to petroleum terminals, natural gas stations, and related facilities using Autodesk, AutoCAD and CADWorx 3D software packages. Candidate must be able to maintain a steady workflow and meet stringent project deadlines. Applicants should have excellent verbal and written communication skills. Ideal candidates are genuinely excited and enthusiastic about learning and pushing technical limits and finding new solutions. Candidates should possess "hands-on" experience, good IT technical skills, and the ability to think and solve problems as they occur.

Position Summary

This position reports to the Mechanical Engineering Department Manager and will work closely with the Project Manager, lead design engineer, and project team.

The Piping Designer must have proven experience and skills related to the design and drafting of engineering drawings for use in industrial facility or pipeline applications and must have the ability to coordinate related tasks associated with multiple projects, simultaneously.

Roles and Responsibilities

The primary responsibilities of the Piping Designer shall include:

§ Preparation of process flow diagrams (PFD), piping & instrument diagrams (P&ID), general equipment layouts, facility plot plans, and equipment and instrument lists for various company plant, pipeline and related facilities construction projects. § Preparation of facility piping plans based on P&ID information. § Coordination with other design disciplines including Civil, Electrical, and Structural § Assigning equipment, instrument, valve tagging numbers and piping line numbers § Coordinate with equipment manufacturers and vendors for material selection, material quotes and certified drawings. § Generate Bill of Material lists and material data sheets. § Generate material requisitions for equipment procurement. § Adhere to established project budgets and schedules. § Assist with preparation of man hour estimates and work schedules to support price proposals. § Provide design and drafting services the preliminary development of potential projects § Maintain records of documents and correspondence pertaining to technical design issues throughout the development of projects.

§ Participate in the development and maintenance of Company standard drawings.
