This position is located at the VA Pittsburgh Healthcare System, in Pittsburgh, PA. within the Facilities Management Service Line (FMS). You will provide clerical support and technical assistance for all divisions and serves as education coordinator and PIV official for facilities management service as well as other clerical support functions.

Responsibilities

Duties and responsibilities include:

  • Uses Automated Engineering Management System/Medical Equipment Reporting System (AEMS/MERS) equipment and work order programs;
  • Provides compliance to environmental management service within the specified timeframes;
  • Prepares necessary reports on current statuses;
  • Maintains and revises as needed files and manuals;
  • Provides administrative support to include preparing memos and correspondence and searches for assembles and summarizes information;
  • Arranges for timely submission of required information and follows up to ensure compliance with due dates;
  • Maintains all personnel paperwork, but not limited to performance appraisals, competencies, and educational materials.
  • Performs other duties as assigned.

  • Qualifications To apply for this position, you must have the following qualifications: TYPING PROFICIENCY: This position requires the skills of a qualified typist. In addition to meeting the experience and/or education requirements, you must be able to type at least 40 words per minute. -And- GS-5: Applicants must in the one (1) year of specialized experience equivalent to at least next lower grade level of a GS 4 in the federal service that equipped you with the knowledge, skills, and abilities to perform successfully the duties of the position, and that is typically in or related to this Program Assistant position to be filled. Using office automation programs and equipment for data entry & reporting, scheduling, time keeping, entering work orders, maintaining related files and manuals as well as assigning departmental training requirements. Compiling, printing and distributing reports, preparing memos & correspondence, assembling information and summarizing data. Entering and tracking work orders, conducting following up related to completion of time lines and ensuring compliance within the target date. Maintains all personnel paperwork for the engineering section, but not limited to performance appraisals, competencies, and educational materials. -And- EDUCATION: You must have successfully completed 4 years of education above high school. This education must have been obtained in an accredited business, secretarial or technical school, junior college, college or university. One year of full-time academic study is defined as 30 semester hours, 45 quarter hours, or the equivalent in a college or university, or at least 20 hours of classroom instruction per week for approximately 36 weeks in a business, secretarial, or technical school. (TRANSCRIPTS REQUIRED - If you do not submit a copy of your transcript, your application may not be processed.) -OR- COMBINATION: You must have an equivalent combination of successfully possess equivalent combinations of experience and education as described above to fully meet the requirements of this position. You will be rated on the following Competencies as part of the assessment questionnaire for this position:

    Physical Requirements: The work is primarily sedentary. Typically, the employee sits comfortably to do the work. However, there may be some walking, standing, bending and carrying of lightweight objects or driving an automobile. There are no specific physical demands are required to perform the work. The work environment involves everyday risks or discomforts which require normal safety precautions typical of such places as offices, meeting and training rooms, or libraries. The work area is adequately lighted, heated and ventilated. Receiving Service Credit for Earning Annual (Vacation) Leave: Federal Employees earn annual leave at a rate (4, 6 or 8 hours per pay period) which is based on the number of years they have served as a Federal employee. VA may offer newly-appointed Federal employee's credit for their job-related non-federal experience or active duty uniformed military service.
