Under the direction of the System Director, Corporate Communications, leads strategic direction for key System and/or service line public relations initiatives, including proactive, reactive and crisis communications. Supports System Director to manage significant events. Develops annual proactive public and media relations programs to increase System exposure and/or to maximize service line exposure in the marketplace, working with service line leadership to identify opportunities to promote services and personnel and assisting senior leadership to develop internal/external speeches, presentations and correspondence related to service line initiatives. Consistently applies public relations to work to develop supporting internal communications in coordination with communications and marketing professionals. Supports other internal communications as needed.

Minimum Qualifications:

Formal Education Required:
  • Bachelors Degree in Public Relations, Communications or related field of study

Experience & Training Required:
  • Minimum five (5) years of experience in public relations/communications including direct contact with the media
  • Demonstrated experience leading internal communications efforts.

Other Skills, Competencies and Qualifications:
  • Ability to communicate effectively both written and oral with physicians, staff, community and media
  • Ability to plan and implement strategic goals for service line initiatives
  • Ability to write communication plans in support of service line initiatives
  • Ability to work well and collaborate with others
  • Ability to effectively interact with populations of patients/customers with an understanding of their needs for self-respect and dignity

Level of Physical Demands:
  • Sedentary: Exerts up to ten pounds of force occasionally and/or a negligible amount of force frequently
