QA Engineer – ETL DW, BI

QA Engineering on enterprise application and data migration. Focus will be on testing ETL data migration from Oracle to SQL Server, Business Intelligence Testing. Development, execution, and documentation of test plans and scripts. UAT planning and execution.

Responsibilities

  • Creates and executes test plans and scripts for application development efforts based on documented business requirements.
  • Reviews the test deliverables of QA peers. Identifies gaps and makes suggestions to help bring the cases to current standards as needed.
  • Documents test results, issues, and risks.
  • Communicates test progress, results and other relevant information to the team.
  • Provides guidance to non-QA resources for development and documentation of test plans and scripts. Reviews and provides feedback.
  • Performs triage on issues discovered by non-QA testers, and verifies resolutions.
  • Communicates gaps in standards adherence for testing related deliverables and process, provides constructive feedback and guidance, and assists in preventing audit exception findings related to testing deliverables and process.
  • Provides project manager with detail on work plan tasks and timeframes to support project planning.
  • Manages work to meet project deadlines. Notifies project manager of issues that may impacts estimates or delivery dates.
  • Participates in Business and Functional requirement reviews, design reviews and Test Plan reviews. Provides input to the project team on ways to improve the quality of these deliverables and to improve the ability to test the documented changes.

Required Qualifications

  • Bachelor’s degree in computer science, information systems, or relevant discipline.
  • Three or more years of relevant QA systems and various application technology testing strategy experience, preferably in banking or financial services industry; or appropriate combination of education and experience.
  • Intermediate SQL skills, including the ability to create complex SQL queries with little or no guidance (both Microsoft SQL Server and Oracle)
  • Strong aptitude around data structures and data relationships
  • Able to read and understand data transformation rules and formulate testing strategies and scripts
  • Ability to maintain and enhance test scripts for applications supported by various languages including responsibility for in-house production systems.
  • Experience documenting and tracking defects.
  • Ability to work independently, as well as collaboratively in a team environment
  • Strong analytical, decision making and problem-solving skills.
  • Excellent verbal and written communication and interpersonal skills.
  • Background in Data Warehouse and Business Intelligence

Preferred Qualifications

  • Experience in automated test case execution
  • Financial systems experience preferred.
  • Skills with ETL (Informatica), Reporting (Cognos), Analytics (Tableau)
  • Experience with test plan/case design, development, and execution on a variety of technology platforms.

W2 only. No H1b Visa. No subcontracting. Local Denver, onsite full time.
