    Summary

    This position is located in the Consumer Financial Protection Bureau, Office of Supervision Examinations, Southeast Regional Office. The position provides regional management and staff with travel authorization and reimbursement approvals, advisory services, and assistance and training related to travel rules, regulations and policies.

    Responsibilities

    As a Regional Travel Specialist, you will:

    • Serve as the Approving/Authorizing Official (AO) at the operational level with the authority for the timely approval of the expenditure of funds to support temporary duty travel for the mission.
    • Conduct pre-approval and post-trip reviews of travel actions for compliance with Federal Travel Regulations and CFPB travel policies and procedures.
    • Research issues and coordinate and correspond with travelers to obtain missing documentation, gather additional information to support entries, and elevate issues as appropriate to management
    • Serve as the region’s primary source for travel guidance that resolves complex domestic and international travel questions and emerging issues
    • Train regional employees and managers, both in-person and virtually, on CFPB’s travel program.

    The experience may have been gained in either the public or private sector or volunteer service. One year of experience refers to full-time work; part-time work is considered on a prorated basis.     Qualifications

    You must meet the following requirements within 30 days of the closing date of this announcement.

    Specialized Experience for the CN-53 level: To qualify at the CN-53 level, you must have one year of specialized experience at or equivalent to the CN-52 level in the Federal service (For qualification purposes, the CN-52 level is broadly equivalent to the GS-12 level). For this position, specialized experience is defined as demonstrated experience in each of the following:

    • Utilizing electronic platforms to compile, reconcile, analyze and report travel data for an organization; AND
    • Reviewing and examining receipts, claims, and requests for travel reimbursement for accuracy and compliance with agency travel program; AND
    • Researching travel regulations, policy and guidelines, in order to advise managers and travelers on travel scenarios, best practices and how to comply with organization’s requirements; AND
    • Evaluating and proposing changes to agency travel policy and guidance; AND
    • Training managers and employees on particulars of agency travel program

    Specialized Experience for the CN-52 level: To qualify at the CN-52 level, you must have one year of specialized experience at or equivalent to the CN-51 level in the Federal service (For qualification purposes, the CN-51 level is broadly equivalent to the GS-11 level). For this position, specialized experience is defined as demonstrated experience in each of the following:

    • Utilizing electronic platforms to compile, reconcile, analyze and report travel data for an organization; AND
    • Reviewing and examining receipts, claims, and requests for travel reimbursement for accuracy and compliance with agency travel program; AND
    • Researching travel regulations, policy and guidelines, in order to advise managers and travelers on travel scenarios, best practices and how to comply with organization’s requirements; AND
    • Training employees on particulars of agency travel program

    CONDITIONS OF EMPLOYMENT:
    • A one year probationary period may be required.
    • Must successfully complete a background investigation.
    • Complete a Declaration for Federal Employment to determine your suitability for Federal employment, at the time requested by the agency
    • If you are a male applicant born after December 31, 1959, certify that you have registered with the Selective Service System or are exempt from having to do so.
    • Go through a Personal Identity Verification (PIV) process that requires two forms of identification from the Form I-9. Federal law requires verification of the identity and employment eligibility of all new hires in the U.S.
    • Obtain and use a Government-issued charge card for business-related travel.
