Safety Coordinator

AmeriQual Aseptic (AQA) and Carolina Dairy in Troy, NC is seeking a motivated, positive leader to assume duties as a Safety Coordinator. This position supports the Safety and Management Team at both faciliies in preparing, facilitating, monitoring, evaluating and documenting safety and training activities as outlined by various compliance and regulatory bodies.

Duties and Responsibilities

  • Lead efforts to improve the AmeriQual Safety Management System (SMS) through reviews of Policies, Procedures, Work Standards, and Training material. This includes, but is not limited to: Emergency Action Plan, Powered Industrial Truck, Hazcom/GHS, Confined Space, Occupational Noise, Hot Works, Fall Protection, Lockout/Tagout, Electrical Safety, Machine Guarding, OSHA Recordkeeping, PPE
  • Ensure the AmeriQual Operating System (AOS) is being executed in accordance with targets aligned with planned activity
  • Conduct equipment and process risk assessments (Familiarity with LOTO and Alternative Protection is a plus).
  • Develop Standardized work with specific attention to the Safety aspect for all operation standards.
  • Act as safety resource for AmeriQual, assessing first aid need, communicating with Work Comp providers and insurers, and following up with team members in a prompt and professional manner
  • Enter training data and run reports utilizing safety database to ensure timely completion of OSHA required and AmeriQual specific training
  • Provide monthly safety training and new hire safety training to Team Members
  • Conduct periodic safety walk-throughs to evaluate safety risks and tracks corrective actions and continuous improvement opportunities for these risks.
  • Lead efforts to execute Safety business plan items by monitoring activity and reporting progress during month business reviews
  • Perform other related duties as required and assigned.


  • Bachelor’s degree in Safety or related field
  • 2+ years’ experience in safety department in manufacturing setting
  • Strong organizational and computer skills
  • Excellent communication and presentation skills
  • Ability to maintain a high level of confidentiality.
  • Ability to prioritize, multi-task, and work both independently and as part of a team
  • Ability to travel 5-10%
