The Work You ll Be Doing:
Review engineering and construction plans, depot procedures, methods and facilities involving the manufacture, demil, or renovation of munitions or components or the update of existing munitions to identify unsafe conditions and assure the safety of munitions operations.
Develops, recommends and/or coordinates implementation of safety and/or health programs depot wide.
Perform periodic on-site surveys and inspections of all facilities and work operations to assess the effectiveness of organizational safety programs. Verify that work is performed in accordance with approved Standing Operating Procedures (SOP) and OSHA Guidelines.
Evaluate and analyze a variety of data such as accident frequency, causes, safety reports, operations, utilization of current safety data, pre-accident planning, etc., to ensure adequacy and effectiveness of the accident prevention efforts. Prepare reports on conditions observed.
Review and recommend changes, modifications, approval or disapproval of Operating Procedures (SOP).
Conduct accident investigations. Maintain accident reporting, investigation, and analysis standards to ensure effective corrective action and follow up are provided. Collects accident data for analysis of trends to identify specific areas where additional training is needed. Inspects machinery, equipment and/or structures for compliance with applicable safety and/or health codes and makes recommendation to enhance safety.
Provide apppropriate and professional level safety guidance & expertise to all employees, with emphasis on first line supervisors and planners. Interprets and/or presents information on regulations, policies, procedures and/or other source materials dealing with industrial safety, explosive safety and/or health to other staff. Coordinate with operating activities to provide safety training, and ensures safety awareness throughout the installation. Develop safety communications and safety stand down presintations to employees, customers and tenents.
Maintain close liaison with federal, state, municipal,and private industry to obtain safety materials and to facilitate adaptation of industrial safety practices. Responsible for reporting potential, reported or known environmental concerns to the Environmental Service.Reports safety/and or health violations and/or deficiencies to appropriate departments. Reports the result of investigations with recommended corrective action(s) to proper authorities and/or agency staff.
Assist in developing guidelines for handling, storage, and disposal of ammunition and ammunition components. Responds to emergiencies on call. May serve as the SOC Safety Officer during emergencies.
What You Need to Bring to the Table:
High School Diploma or equivalent required. Associates degree in a technical field or equivalent combination of education and experience required.
Minimum of two (2) years of experience in safety operations and/or inspection, incident management or emergency services, required.
Must be able to obtain and maintain all certifications as required by SOC s Master Training Plan.
Must be able to obtain and maintain a valid, State of Nevada, driver s license.
Must also be able to obtain and maintain the appropriate level of government security clearance as well as a clearance through the Bureau of Tobacco, Alcohol, and Firearms.
Must be able to perform work duties routinely, in a safe and effective manner, remaining alert and aware of potential work/safety hazards at all times, and especially alert, while performing safety sensitive duties.

Knowledge of a wide range of occupational safety concepts, principles, practices, laws and regulations to perform complex administrative responsibilities
Skill to identify occupational safety requirements and the need for implementation of new policies, plans standards and methods to ensure the safety of personnel, working environments, equipment and facilities. Ability to work successfully both independently with minimal supervision and as a member or lead of a team/project.
Must be able to read and interpret Standard Operating Procedures to be able to prepare reports and make recommendations on conditions observed and review and recommend changes, modifications, approval or disapproval. Ability to work in Word, PowerPoint, Excel, Outlook, etc.
Support data gathering for metrics and performance monitoring of programs. Ability to analyze information.
Strong interpersonal skills, with the ability to cultivate strong and collaborative relationships inside and outside the organization. Excellent organizational skills, as demonstrated by the ability to prioritize tasks efficiently and work well under pressure in a fast-paced, multi-tasking environment.
