Senior Compositing Artist - (Contract)

Job Description
Rooster Teeth Animation is looking for a Senior Compositing Artist to support the growth of our Post department! The animation department at RT has long been a driving force within the company, creating such shows as RWBY, Red vs. Blue, Camp Camp, and RWBY Chibi. We believe passionately in attracting the best and brightest for our team, creating the most engaging and impressive animated productions online or elsewhere (while also having more than a little fun in the process). A strong candidate will have a proven track record of creative leadership, interpersonal skills, and production experience to help the company fulfill its objectives. Responsibilities:
  • Provide guidance to artists in compositing shots based on storyboards, reference, and instructions from Director and Art Director
  • Lead development of looks for scenes (sets and characters) that meet the vision of the Director / Art Director
  • Distribute and monitor episodic shots among all compositors for a given show in coordination with assistant(s)
  • Review and give feedback to compositors, supporting the timely completion of shots with an understanding of the vision of the Director and Art Director
  • Collaborate with departments that contribute elements to the post-production pipeline
  • Support the development of tools that optimize compositing production processes
  • Contribute to any final color-correction review and process
  • Seek out creative, design-led solutions to challenging problems
  • Qualifications:
  • Requirements:
  • Expert understanding of After Effects
  • Proven leadership and communication skills
  • Works well with short deadlines and fast turnarounds (able to adapt to changing deadlines)
  • Experience with a studio pipeline and flow of production
  • Attention to detail
  • Professional attitude
  • Strong sense of composition, light, and color
  • Preferred:
  • Familiarity with 3D (3dsMax, Maya, Cinema4D) and Photoshop / Illustrator
  • Knowledge of scripting (able to read scripting languages and create tools, especially ActionScript in AE)
  • Experience with a broad range of visual effects techniques and approaches
  • Bonus:
