The corporate finance team coordinates and consolidates financial planning, accounting and reporting for v2 Ventures and its subsidiaries. This role provides financial reports and analysis to senior executives, working closely with leaders in the corporate function and subsidiary business units, as well as the analysts that support them. In addition, this role will be primarily responsible for the budgeting, forecasting and cash management of startup ventures in the incubation phase (currently one with potential for additional in future).

The corporate finance team consists of a senior accountant, accounts payable specialist, finance systems manager, and tax director and is located in Kansas City, MO. This position reports to the Vice President, Finance.

  • What will you do?

  • Business Updates: Coordinate the preparation of weekly, monthly and quarterly business updates for the president and the board.
  • Financial Reporting: Partner with accounting to compile and consolidate financial reports across subsidiaries, ensuring data integrity and facilitating review.
  • Budgeting & Forecasting: Key player in the semi-annual budgeting and forecasting process, including preparation for shared service departments and startup ventures, coordinating completion by business unit subsidiaries, and facilitating review by the president and the board for final approval.
  • Cash Management: Reconcile daily cash, produce cash forecasts, and make cash management recommendations to executive leadership.
  • Variance Analysis: Partner with accounting to analyze variances to budgets/projections to help ensure complete and accurate recording of results.
  • Incentive Compensation: Compilation and review of incentive compensation plans, payout and accrual calculations, and obtaining relevant approvals.
  • New Ventures: Assist in designing and implementing finance processes for new business ventures in the incubation phase, such as reporting for key performance indicators and monitoring cash flow and working capital.
  • Process Improvement: Think critically about accounting and finance processes to drive automation, efficiency, accuracy, and other improvements.
  • Finance Systems: Provide backup to systems team by maintaining data in an Access Database and creating and maintaining Excel budget templates linked to SQL Server via VBA.
  • Special Projects: Participate in special projects as needed – such as research, valuation analyses, M&A activity, decision support, and ad hoc reporting requests.
  • Collaborate: Communicate and coordinate cross-functionally both within and outside of the v2 Ventures finance department to drive results and accomplish team goals.

  • What are we looking for?

    The successful candidate will be an inspiring and confident leader with at least:

  • Bachelor’s or master’s degree in Accounting, Finance, Economics, or a related field.
  • Minimum of 3 years of experience in a combination of accounting or finance roles, with a focus on reporting, planning and analysis; experience in accounting and/or finance systems is a plus
  • Solid understanding of accounting principles and financial concepts.
  • Expert proficiency in Excel; professional or academic experience using Access; proficiency with Word and Power Point.
  • Proven track record with a successful history in meeting deadlines and executing efficiently, providing analysis and solutions to executives and coordinating financial activities across functions or organizations.
  • Ability to analyze results, explain variances, and identify key targets impacting business performance.
  • Experience working with large amounts of data, with the proven ability to extract, summarize, and present meaningful insights to a variety of audiences.
  • Experience with business process improvement and problem resolution, using technology to increase accounting, reporting, and/or planning efficiency and accuracy.
  • Analytical: An intellectual curiosity and strong analytical thinking skills; ability to think clearly, analyze quantitatively, and problem-solve.
  • Resourceful: The ability to find solutions and deliver results within a rapid changing, entrepreneurial, technology-driven culture.
  • Adaptable to change: able to quickly learn and master new concepts and skills and deliver results within a rapidly changing, entrepreneurial, and technology-driven culture. Willing and able to learn new skill sets and take on additional responsibilities as needed.
  • Excellent interpersonal skills, with the ability to communicate effectively with management and cross functional teams and establish collaborative relationships.
