How you’ll make a difference in this role:

Under general supervision of and reporting directly to the Director of Finance, provides oversight for all accounting functions in compliance with the policies, procedures, and goals of the agency. Provides financial advice and support to help senior executives make key decisions.

You will review and ensure accuracy of data posted to the accounts payable system (i.e. revenue, expenditures, vendors, etc.); review and ensure accuracy of accounts payable invoices, receipts, requisitions, purchase orders and other documents. You will also serve as back-up for the A/P process.

You will oversee the functioning of the payroll system; troubleshoot, research, and resolve problems; work closely with MIS Staff and Human Resources on payroll processes, as needed; ensure payroll practices and systems are in compliance with personnel policies and federal/state regulations; ensure accuracy of payroll processing (i.e. computation of hours worked, computation of vacation/sick/personal/ PTO, retirement contributions, etc.). You will balance and file quarterly taxes with the Internal Revenue Service; validate and balance W-2’s at the end of the calendar year.

You will review and ensure accuracy of data posted to the accounts receivable system (self-pay, private insurance, Medicaid, contract payments, write offs, spend downs, etc.); review and analyze A/R reports (TXX, Error report, TANF, Aging, Critical Error, Reject, etc.); administer write offs in accordance with agency policy/procedure; review/ensure outstanding consumer balances on unapplied credit and aging reports are maintained at appropriate balances. Serve as back-up for the A/R process. Oversee internal audit procedures for A/R

You will identify, collect, and report relevant statistical data to reflect accounting functions, and present reports to management. You will provide information and answers to questions regarding assigned areas of responsibility (i.e. payroll issues, financial reports, etc.). You will assist external auditors with the examination of agency financial statements.

You will perform general ledger operations; prepare journal entries; monitor budget transactions; check departmental financial accounts/budgets to assure funds are available for purchases.

You will balance and file quarterly taxes with the Internal Revenue Service; validate and balance W-2’s at the end of the calendar year.

Who are you?

You will have obtained a minimum of a Bachelor’s degree in Accounting, Business or related field with 3-5 years of related experience in Not for Profit accounting.
