Learn more about this agency Responsibilities This position will allow you to utilize your expertise in various administrative skills to provide project-related, advisory, and technical services to U.S. Customs and Border Protection (CBP) management. In this position, you will strengthen the Department's ability to perform homeland security functions by becoming a valuable member of a team of administrative professionals. Typical work assignments include: Serving as principal advisor and scheduler to the Office of the Executive Assistant Commissioner (EAC) on all administrative management matters associated with its programs and operations, develops and advises on administrative requirements for a complex organization; Maintaining the EAC's and Deputy EAC's (DEAC) daily and Enterprise Services (ES) long-term calendar, ensuring that meetings include sufficient details (e.g. location, briefer, attendees, agenda, purpose, and meeting materials) and all meetings are tracked and canceled meetings are immediately rescheduled; Ensuring an ambitious travel plan is coordinated and executed in order to keep the senior leadership in touch with the field, leads in developing and administering plans for public appearances and social engagements for the executive senior leader and driving a passenger automobile on official government business to transport to and from designated points the EAC, DEAC and/or other senior executives Coordinating requests for information and appointment requests, screens calls and directs inquiries to appropriate staff, consults and collaborates with staff and program managers to identify areas requiring explanation or clarification; Serving as assistant protocol officer, ensuring all activities, VIP, dignitary visits, and organizational and ceremonial events are conducted in appropriate manner and in accordance with proper guidelines and etiquette; Travel Required Occasional travel - You may be expected to travel for this position. Experience refers to paid and unpaid experience, including volunteer work done through National Service programs (e.g., Peace Corps, AmeriCorps) and other organizations (e.g., professional; philanthropic; religious; spiritual; community, student, social). Volunteer work helps build critical competencies, knowledge, and skills and can provide valuable training and experience that translates directly to paid employment.
