$150,000 a yearIf you are a licensed Senior Structural Engineer with 12 to 15 yrs experience in TXDOT bridge design looking to work on Signature | Multimodal | Exotic Bridge design projects this opportunity is for you. Our Client has an opening for a Senior Structural Bridge Design Engineer in their Austin TX office. The Senior Structural Bridge Design Engineer will lead a team of engineers and technicians in a dynamic collaborative environment, designing and producing a variety of bridge projects under the guidance of the Director of Bridge Engineering with latitude for independent decision making. Great client service capability is a must. Technical specialization and proactivity are encouraged. J JOB RESPONSIBILITIES
  • Proactively lead project design teams to accomplish task assignments related to schematic and PSE bridge design for a variety of transportation projects, with a focus on TxDOT work.
  • Support Project Manager in adhering to project scopes, budgets and schedules. Enthusiastically lead client interaction and implementation of QAQC program.
  • Produce 3D geometric designs for horizontal vertical geometry for bridges, culverts, retaining walls and embankments. Supervise cutting cross sections and detail sheets Able to use Microstation, GEOPAK, InRoads, OpenRoads and OpenBridge Modeler software to develop design of transportation projects.
  • Use LEAP Concrete, LEAP Steel, PG Super, MDX, BGS and TxDOT bridge design programs to design bridge elements.
  • Mentor and train members of project design team on engineering programs, design tasks and tools.
  • Actively participate in implementing improvement initiatives for project quality and technical capabilities.
  • Support proposal development, project scoping and client relationship development.
  • Foundation and retaining wall design experience, and a working knowledge of LPile.
  • Responsibilities may also include the following:
  • Prepare, modify and submit engineering and construction designs, plans, specifications, and estimates.
  • Calculate plan quantities, costs of materials and estimates.
  • Conduct technical reviews and write reports.
  • Conduct field visits.
  • Perform related work as assigned.
  • EDUCATION AND EXPERIENCE
  • Bachelors degree in Civil Engineering, Masters Degree in Civil Engineering Preferred. Structural or transportation emphasis required.
  • Twelve to Fifteen years of industry experience in engineering.
  • Experience in the design of TxDOT Bridge and structural projects. Railroad Bridge and/or roadway design experience a plus.
  • REGISTRATION, CERTIFICATION OR LICENSURE Must be licensed as a Professional Engineer in the State of Texas. KNOWLEDGE, SKILLS AND ABILITIES

  • Knowledge of engineering principles and practices, as well as TxDOT and local rules, regulations, standards, and procedures.
  • Working knowledge of AASHTO LRFD, TxDOT Bridge Design and Detailing Manuals and TxDOT Policy.
  • Skilled in the use of computer-aided design techniques including the following software applications: Bentley MicroStation, OpenRoads, OpenBridge Modeler, GEOPAK, LEAP Steel, LEAP Concrete, MDX, Bluebeam, Adobe. MIDAS, RM Bridge and LARS Bridge a plus.
  • Proficient in the use of Microsoft office software such as: MS Word, Power Point, Excel.
  • Proven ability to lead and manage projects, to communicate effectively and to mentor junior staff.
  • Excellent oral and written communication skills.
  • Passion for all types of bridge engineering.
  • Ability to determine scope and fee for bridge projects a big plus.
