Job Description

Supply Chain Coordinator (Job Opening 454904) - The Central Sterile Supply (CSS) department at The Ohio State University Medical Center is a 24-hour/day 7 day/week operation that is responsible for instrument inventory, instrument processing, OR case cart production, decontamination, sterile processing, sterile disposal, supply inventory and select reusable equipment for OSUMC, James Cancer Hospital and Ross Heart Hospital. The Supply Coordinator is responsible for developing, coordinating, maintaining and managing the department s material resources. Position Summary The Supply Coordinator is responsible for the overall planning, organization, direction, maintenance and evaluation of the material resources and its support system including the associated financial and quality assurance activities within the Central Sterile Supply Department. The Supply Coordinator designs and administers activities for resource management including but not limited to maintaining an accurate inventory storage system for timely distribution of sterile surgical procedure trays, instruments supplies and equipment to patient care areas. This individual is also responsible for noting significant tends or deviations in the amount of resources used and modifies planning according for budgetary purposes. Optimal customer service is provided to all hospital departments requiring sterile instrumentation including proper sorting, disassembly, cleaning, assembly and sterilization of instrumentation, equipment and supplies. All duties are completed according to prescribed CSS procedures and infection control guidelines.

Education and Experience

High school graduate with at least 2 years of relevant work experience, or equivalent combination of education and experience. Previous experience in Operating Room and/or Central Sterile Supply environment is preferred. Certification in Sterile Processing or Surgical Technology, previous experience with computers and data entry, extensive knowledge of complex surgical instrumentation, surgical services, and sterilization components desired.
