Systems Architect – Risk Applications – ITmPowered

The Enterprise Financial Risk group, continuously builds, iterates, and refines Quantitative Risk Models (capital, liquidity, credit risk, market risk, ALM, asset risks, Value at Risk (VaR), bond options, stress analysis). They use an ecosystem of financial Risk / modeling applications (QRM Framework, Matlab, SAS, Polypaths). Involving dozens of up and down stream applications, data warehouses, financial applications, etc.

The Systems Architect will design, engineer, test, implement, and maintain a cohesive Risk application ecosystem of connected platforms, systems, data feeds, API’s, ETL, and Automated Job Scheduling supporting and involving;

  • Risk modeling groups – business needs, data needs, processes, use cases, impacts.
  • Risk modeling / Statistical Modeling tools and capabilities (QRM, Matlab, SAS, Polypaths, Kamakura, etc.)
  • Data feeds and flows – ETL, Oracle/SQL Server Data Warehouses, BI Reporting and dashboarding.
  • Data integrity in managing the conveyer belt of curated data sets needed by the Risk Modeling team.
  • Connected applications, dependencies, and interfaces – ETL, API, Web Services,
  • Dev, QA, Staging, and Prod environments and change control processes.

Responsibilities;

  • Architect cohesive Risk Application Ecosystem in support of the Financial Risk Modeling group (QRM Framework, Murex, Polypaths, Matlab, SAS, SQL Server, Oracle, Web Services, API, ETL, Job Automation)
  • Attend Risk Team project meetings, gather, validate, and document business / technical requirements.
  • Provides design, prototype & test plan appropriate to a chosen technical solution.
  • Identifies, documents and manages interdependencies with other systems and elements.
  • Evaluates industry offerings to identify products and technologies to support solution and business direction.
  • Assures integration and communications between enterprise systems– ETL, API, Web Services, job scheduling.
  • Analyze data for data integrity, data sampling, data quality, transformations, and data flows, and BI reporting.
  • Develop and Support financial risk applications using SQL Server, SSIS, SSRS, Windows shell scripting.
  • Support QRM automations using SQL Server, SSIS, SSRS, ETL, Reporting, Stored Procedures.
  • Leverage Job Scheduling Automation tools – Control-M, AutoSys, Cron, Window Shell Scripting.
  • Facilitate process redesign sessions with tech teams, identify process improvements, future state design.
  • Provide support of the enterprise Financial Risk team and Risk Application portfolio (QRM – Quantitative Risk Management, Matlab, SAS, Polypaths, SQL Server) handling automation of job scheduling, monitoring, reporting for QRM packages (risk scenarios, modeling, risk reports and models) etc.
  • Serve as liaison between Risk modeling business clients and technology organization.
  • Map business processes and technical design documentation, including data point integrations and overall environment architecture models.

Required Skills:

  • Bachelor’s degree in computer science, information systems, engineering or relevant discipline
  • Background in Financial Risk Applications (banking, lending, brokerage, investing, Financial Services, etc.)
  • Experience with application automation solutions in support of risk modeling, capital, liquidity, credit risk, ALM, asset risks, Value at Risk (VaR), market risk, stress analysis.
  • 1+ yrs leading transformation of platforms, systems, applications – enterprise solutions infrastructures involving, SQL, ETL, Data Warehousing, API/Web Services, Job Scheduling,
  • 5+ years Microsoft technologies including SQL server, Windows server environments, HPC, SSIS, SSRS
  • Experience with Risk Modeling; QRM, Kamakura, Bancware, Moody’s Analytics, Darling, ModelRisk, etc.)
  • Experience with SQL Server tools and concepts including SQL, stored procedures, triggers, BI Reporting
  • Familiarity with automated job scheduling tools (Control-M, Autosys, etc.)
  • Familiarity with Statistical Applications (Matlab, SAS, Polypaths)
  • Business customer-facing role, leading meetings, communications, and coordination with large teams
