Job Summary:The Systems Engineer participates in the design, development, and implementation of IT services and solutions, with an emphasis on the systems architecture. The Systems Engineer also provides advanced support for Information Technology Services, including problem management, resolution of service interruptions, and the development of guidelines for operation and administration of services.

Major Duties and Responsibilities:Engineer IT Solutions 50%
Participate in the conception, design, and development of IT services and solutions, with a focus on systems engineering. Participate in cross-functional teams to implement and release services into production, including the necessary procedures for continued operations and administration. Meet with stakeholders throughout the University to maintain alignment between the University s needs and requirements and the IT services delivered.

Advanced Support 25%
Focus is on IT services of extremely high-risk, complexity, availability, and visibility that serve the needs of the entire University. Assist in upgrades and enhancements to services at times that minimize impact on the university community. Respond to after-hours emergencies as needed.

Project Design, Analysis and Management 20%
Work independently in the identification of project task requirements or in consultation with technical staff. Work collaboratively with engineers and technical experts in the employ of Regis vendors and partners. Write technical specifications and project artifacts. Participate in, and when needed, lead project meetings with stakeholders.

Perform related tasks and projects as assigned to support the Regis mission. 5%

DECISION MAKING: (Level of difficulty or intensity of the mental process and is it routine or non-routine.)
Occasional, highly intense problem solving and decision making ability required, during a service interruption or major support incident.

SCOPE of AUTHORITY: Financial, program, specific activity (Amount of freedom to establish methods to complete assignments.)
Authority to make changes to production systems as required to resolve emergencies.

COMMUNICATION: (Interpersonal level of communication, e.g., factual, interpretative, motivational.)
Responsibility for confidential information involves routine reporting or exchange of information requiring little or no interpretation or discussion. There is wide exposure to information systems which may contain sensitive and confidential information.

RESULTS of ACTIONS: (Impact of results on the department/Regis.)
Significant loss of class time or office/departmental productivity. Potential damage to critical phases of scholarly research. Possible delay of critical timelines, the result of which could be stiff financial penalties issued to the College.

MINIMUM REQUIREMENTS: (Necessary for essential duties.)
Experience: (Specific, observable and linked to essential duties.)
Three years experience working in IT solution delivery, systems administration, devops engineering, or systems engineering role and an Associate s Degree in a computer related discipline or equivalent experience.
A combination of a Bachelor s Degree and a meaningful internship or work experience in an Information Technology role will meet the above requirement.

Knowledge: (Body of and level of information necessary to perform a duty.)
In-depth knowledge of IT services, systems, and architecture, and the ability to apply that knowledge to design creative solutions. Familiarity with information security, scripting and programming, systems integration, network protocols / services. Functional knowledge of Microsoft Office applications.

Abilities: (Application of knowledge, i.e., intensity, duration, frequency of mental capabilities needed to perform tasks.)
Excellent interpersonal and verbal and written communication skills. Excellent problem-solving skills are required. Essential is the ability to diagnose and provide solutions for problems with little outside assistance. The ability to build on existing experience to solve problems never before encountered is critical. The ability to operate under tight time deadlines and changing priorities alone or as part of a team. A service-oriented, collaborative approach to customer and peer relationships. A high level of integrity is required, as the individual will be required to work with and manage sensitive information and high-risk systems.

Pay Rate:Maximum salary approximately $59,000/year and commensurate with qualifications and experience
