    Summary

    About the Position: This position is for a Telecommunications Specialist with the US Army Space & Missile Defense Command/ARSTRAT,G-6/CIO located in Colorado Springs, CO.

    The US Army Space & Missile Defense Command/ARSTRAT is participating in an alternate personnel system known as the Acquisition Demonstration Project (AcqDemo). More information about AcqDemo can be obtained at the following link: http://acqdemo.hci.mil/index.html.

    Responsibilities

    • Position supports space, control and terminal military satellite systems.
    • Responsible for the collection, receipt, validation/approval, and management of military satellite and related information system plans defining near, mid, and long-term initiatives for the DoD.
    • Applies extensive knowledge of SATCOM and satellite systems to provide expert assistance to those activities which provide support to the strategic, operational, and tactical levels of war.
    • Incumbent is responsible for operational management of Wideband SATCOM Operational Management System (WSOMS) and other Military SATCOM (MILSATCOM) Command and Control programs.
    • Follows command policies, plans, objectives and requirements for SATCOM and satellite systems and equipment within parameters of controlling policy and technological capabilities.
    • Develops definitive technical solutions that consider systems architecture, interoperability, interfaces, protocols, networking, expansion and overall end-to-end compatibility.
    • Participates as consultant, advisor, or member in various DoD, Joint, and MILDEP planning and working groups formed to analyze, evaluate, and recommend solutions to future communications and automation planning problems.

    • Appointment may be subject to a suitability or fitness determination, as determined by a completed background investigation.
    • This position requires a Top Secret security clearance with Special Compartmented Information (SCI) access to be obtained and maintained for the duration of employment.
    • This position is a Testing Designated Position (TDP) subject to random drug testing. Selected applicants are required to sign a DA 5019 requiring participation in random drug urinalysis testing; verified positive results may be refused employment.
    • Temporary Duty Travel (TDY) is required 25% of the duty time.
    • This position requires shift work to provide coverage on evenings, weekends, holidays, or special situations. Employee shifts are rotated on a regularly scheduled basis.

    In order to qualify, you must meet the experience requirements described below. Experience refers to paid and unpaid experience, including volunteer work done through National Service programs (e.g., Peace Corps, AmeriCorps) and other organizations (e.g., professional; philanthropic; religious; spiritual; community; student; social). You will receive credit for all qualifying experience, including volunteer experience. Your resume must clearly describe your relevant experience; if qualifying based on education, your transcripts will be required as part of your application.     Specialized Experience: One year of specialized experience which includes experience developing work planning, formulation, management and execution of program resources; the operational management of Wideband SATCOM Operational Management System (WSOMS) and other Military SATCOM (MILSATCOM) Command and Control programs; and presenting information/decisions to higher level management.

    This definition of specialized experience is typical of work performed at the next lower pay band or equivalent grade/level position in the federal service (NH-02).
