Basic Function: Responsible for the tutorial services of the TRIO SSS Project and Supplemental Instruction.

Salary and Benefits: Salary based on experience. Fringe benefits of Blue Cross/Blue Shield major medical medical health insurance, eye care, dental, life, and disability insurance. Retirement benefits as provided by Social Security and IPERS or TIAA.

  • Recruit, select, and terminate part-time Tutors and Supplemental Instruction (SI) Leaders; supervise the orientation, induction, staff development, and evaluation of such employees. Supervise the academic assistance provided to TRIO SSS participants. Work with faculty and staff to identify high-risk courses and those students best suited to serve as Supplemental Instruction (SI) student leaders. Schedule and supervise SI sessions, facilitate weekly debrief meetings with SI Leaders, promote usage of SI, and evaluate progress and success rate of students involved in SI courses. Collect and maintain participant records for academic support services and tutoring program objectives, budget, and end of the year report. Assist with initial advising and recruitment for TRIO SSS participants. Promote TRIO SSS to all students, parents, and staff individually or in group settings, such as new student orientation, classroom presentations, etc. Team teach Success Seminar & Strategies for Academic Success, facilitate multiple student workshops, assist with cultural events, and all other TRIO SSS activities as needed. Provide financial literacy to students as individuals, small groups, or classrooms; to include budgeting, financial aid, appropriate use of credit, transfer planning, etc. Secure department and instructor support for attaching Supplemental Instruction (SI) to their course section. Keep current with SI practices, standards and benchmarks, including attending initial training through University of Missouri, Kansas City. Facilitate professional growth through participation in appropriate organizations and conferences. Perform in a manner which strengthens the coordination and cooperation of all organizational components of the College, including opportunities for student recruitment.     Qualifications: Bachelors degree in Education, Family & Consumer Science, or a related field required. Masters degree in Counseling, Student Affairs, Education, or a related field preferred.
