Position Description:

The Shipley School is seeking an Upper School Academic Support and SEED Teacher for the 2019-2020 school year.

Job Responsibilities:

  • Provide weekly Academic Support to a designated group of 9th through 12th-grade students;
  • Review psychoeducational testing, in collaboration with the Director of Student Support, and write Learning Profiles based on those reports;
  • Work with parents, teachers, class deans, Academic Dean, counselors, and Head of Upper School to support students of concern;
  • Teach Upper School SEED (9th grade) with a focus on Transition to Upper School, which includes skills from Positive Psychology/Education, study skills, and introduction to key people and systems in the Upper School;
  • All other duties as assigned.
  • Qualifications:

  • Master s Degree in Education with a focus on reading instruction/interventions or learning support and/or special education OR Bachelor s degree plus certification in reading or other related areas;
  • Classroom teaching, tutoring or coaching experience;
  • Exceptional written and oral communication skills;
  • Outstanding interpersonal skills across a variety of constituencies (students, parents, trustees, faculty, community leaders, etc.) in a PreK-12 school environment;
  • Knowledge of independent schools is preferred, but not required;
  • Strong working knowledge of Microsoft Office (Excel, Word, and Outlook) and Google Platform.
